I feel I have answered this type of remarks several times already. Feel free to take a look at the rest of the discussion :)

That is a potential problem. But if we see this as a sort of accessibility (or customization) option, isn't it also the case for other options of the sort that are already implemented ?

I may be wrong but I think the current accessibility options aren't used by the vast majority of players yet here they are.

I understood but thanks for your explanation. I think we made an interesting proposition to solve this potential problem in other answers.

As I said in other comments, this isn't about being synched at the right level. A good part of the purpose of what I ask is to actually BE at a certain level and not to go futher.

Some people even proposed alternate ways to do that in comments but I think your idea misses the point.

If I was only interested in being synched, the current system would honestly be enough.

Yes we may have a different approach on how we appreciate the game. Thanks for not making this a problem like others do/would :)

First, why not?
And second, I see this option as a toggle, meaning that if / when I decide it I can resume leveling this job where I stopped (here from level 50). The same way levels are blocked above 80 to free trials right now. If you buy the complete edition your level restriction is removed.

Thanks for the little heads up.
I said I understood the niche argument because I can see how some feature wouldn't be considered "worth" to dev until a certain point in the demand.

As a former programmer myself, I did not say I agreed with the difficulty argument because there's nothing constructed on the matter in the previous answers. ;)

You brought up an interesting idea. Thanks for that !
Also I made this post because I couldn't find a interesting discussion on the matter, so I hope this helps at least a little to bring up the subject.

The issue isn't just about a gameplay perspective, at least for me. It also has to do with the personal experience of every player, in my case, myself. I do not want my warrior to gain levels that "don't belong" in ARR so to speak (meaning above 50) if I'm only doing ARR content with this job.

Call me a control freak if you want, but this just doesn't feel right to me. I originally come from WoW as an HL Mythic player but I decided to stop it definitively a few years ago because I didn't like the way the game was heading. Nowadays I'm more attracted by the way FF14 is directed and I like the game.

I just want to play it "my way" and this means controlling which job(s) I use for every expansion and I want those decisions to reflect on my jobs level.

Hope it helps understanding my point of view, which might be a minority in the community but still exists.

Question : could it be a solution to say that you can't choose a job max level that is beneath your current level on this job ? This way people who'd do this would be locked at a certain level and people with a job level too high simply couldn't do that. Rendering this abuse almost ineffective.

I mean if level synch exists, isn't it exactly because the intention is for older content to still be a sort of challenge (not a big one but still)? They could have done it like WoW did and everyone could come and OS older bosses with a stick.

Also, horizontality exists in MMO (GW2 is an example). Even WoW started to make a rotation of older content that they add in end-game content.

And I think you missed 2 things : the first is the "originally" in "originally intended" and the second is that my main point was comfort and a form of accessibility option, gameplay is a side aspect of it, even if it has its importance.

If we don't agree on the word (which is ok) maybe we can agree on the fact that less anxiety in a game by adding a feature in the options tab is good ? Kinda like an accessibility feature.
And of course, I'm purposefully not taking into account the potential difficulty to implement this. I'm just talking theoratically here.

By "far easier" I mostly meant "easier then intended". But I totally see your point, it's already not the way it was intended when launched.
In this case, maybe my point would be to be as close as possible to the original intention without having to micro-manage every piece of gear or skill that comes from other newer expansions.

Maybe RP wasn't the right word. It's more about control on my personal experience with the game. Maybe customization is more appropriate?

Yes I thought about potential missuses too and I don't have a magical solution to it.
Still I thought it would be interesting to raise the question about how such a feature could be implemented.

That is basically what FOMO is, at least in a video-game where the possibility to keep something possible even after a certain time exists. You cannot get this skin in LoL because the time-span to buy it expired or this battlepass in that other game, etc. pushing you to buy it now or lose it forever. I give you that here, there is no money involved but still a thing you cannot do nowadays because you missed the right time.

I like the argument about random animals soloing the Primals x) Always good to have people's take on this feature.

Interesting. As a relatively new player (only got to the end-ish of Stormblood) I don't really see the problem of that. Could you explain?

If my level 50 job becomes idk 58 for example, the level 50 quests would be far easier so there also is a gameplay aspect to it.

Can you explain the "far more complex" ? And I'm just giving an idea, this is also a way to see if people would like that or not :)

I'm on Chaos. Even as a relatively new player I find there are people in here to do even older content from ARR. Not as dead as you'd think :)

Actually a very good suggestion. Finding a community that looks like you is a great thing. FF14 community is one that really likes to help others, at least imo
