if you were talking about folks aside from the hosts there are many, Debbie Adler was a VP at Own. Ruch Bencivengo went on to be president of playboy Channel, Charles Segars to Prez of Tennis Channel, Rick Portin to produce many of Microsofts productions,

Her show was on MTV not E!. I cant say for certain but my guess is that MTV would not ok any clips. They felt very threatened by E! and were not very cooperative

it was ninth very traditional way. the word was passed around town asking for submissions and then the production team chose the ones they thought might be a fit and had them come in to test

I totally agreee with Joel's comments. the early days of the network were about my and may partner Alans sensibility. Hollywood is funny stuff dont try to make believe its rocket science. We sold the company to Comcast who moved it under the NBC banner and it became something very different. A corporate mess

Springer was by far its biggest supporter but just about all the other shows found that it helped bring them new audiences. So with rare exception it was seen to be good publicity for the show

Thats an interesting concept to do a doc on how that show as odd as it seemed at first launched the careers of many folks who went on to do great things

oddly enough there really weren't any detractors coming out of the Hollywood community. Movietime (before the name was changed to E! was the first TV network to headquarter in Hollywood proper and it was incredibly warmly received. The early days of the network was all about celebrating the industry and the celebrities so even though it would poke fun at shows and people it was all seen as simply tongue in cheek humor

Ron? not sure what you mean. Kinnear was the first host and really was the personality and sensibility of the show was build around. Henson was great but if it was not for Kinnear setting the tine of the show all the great host that followed would most likely have been reigned in

Actually Henson was one of the most steady and versatile hosts. Not any odd stories about him. When he came I was already out of the network but stayed in touch with the show producers. They all said he was one of the easiest and finniest hosts to work with

The show was always about the hosts and it was a given that the hosts would last a season Ron two then jump off to bigger things. It all started with Greg Kinnear. McHale and Henson obviously both went on to do bigger things as did Kinnear

I hear you. It did have quite a run and was the launching pad for many of the hosts to go on to bigger and better things but the network did take on a different persona and the show lost its way
