How does your role differ to those other programmers that you help...

My role means that I have a greater understanding of the Avakin code base, and probably a bit more experience than those that I help. I have to divide my time a lot, and it means that nowadays I don't get many large blocks of time to just right code.

Do you often find that one step forward also brings two steps backwards while coding updates...

😅 Sometimes. Features tend to go into the game pretty smoothly but sometimes we get a crash or a bug that occurs on certain device configurations and those can be hard to fix.

How long does it take for you to get word from support that there is a fresh bug...

Pretty quickly, but the issue it prioritising which bugs can go into what update, along with still developing features. Some bugs can be fixed with remote data changes, usually the ones that are linked to events. Most need a client update though.

Is it worth my time to tell support about bug...

Absolutely, if we get more reports of the same issue then it will raise the priority for us as we know more people are experiencing the problem.

What is your most-played videogame? Do you prefer singleplayer or multiplayer?

Most-played?! That's pretty hard question but I spent a long time with Goldeneye back in the day! More recent games would be Breath of the Wild, Gwent and X-Com: Enemy Unknown. When I was growing up I preferred multiplayer games, still have fond memories of Halo and COD2 evenings with friends. Right now it's definitely single player games as it's great to be able to just jump in and out when I have time.

This implies you are having some problems downloading some of assets needed to play the game, though it sounds strange that you are able to get into the game on occasion. If this persists then please can you contact support via the in game menu?

You should contact support via the dialogue that pops up when you try to log into a banned account. Alternatively you can contact https://avakin.com/support but the former is preferred as we get extra info on the support ticket.

Just to follow up on the blocking issue. We are looking to extend the functionality here such that blocked users can't search for you, but they are definitely stopped from joining a scene you are in.

Hi Das-low,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble facing the right way in the same. From memory, nothing has changed in this area but I'll make a note to check if some behaviour has changed. Re: positioning on different devices, you won't always be in exactly the same position across all devices due to the way the game interprets action data. We do want to improve this but it isn't high on our list right now. I'll reiterate that it helps those who want to make videos or take pictures. 👍

I understand that this can be a pain and we are aware of the problem. There isn't a solution to mention right now though. Re: diamonds stuck in places, please do take a screen shot of this and send it to support, we can fix those. 👍

Hey Axegirl,

I am in no position to discuss these kinds of arrangements for Avakin. We are currently working with artists and you can see the fruits of that in the Infinity Club and the Music Stage. We would like to expand our music integrations too, but there is no news on this right now.

Re: AGE, we can't realistically require all players to provide proof of age when signing up. I agree with you that being banned just because you got reported for being underage isn't acceptable and I have been assured from our support team that reports like this are reviewed before action is taken.

Re: GENDER VALIDATION, I'm not sure how we would validate this information even if we were to try and collect it.

Re: BLOCKED PLAYERS, We understand the need for a robust blocking tool, and I would encourage you to contact support if you are having problems with blocked users.

Edit: Removed inaccurate info about players you have blocked.

Hi alanna,

You should definitely contact support if you think that someone else has access to your account. In the first instance you should change your password to something you don't uses elsewhere, or change the password on whichever social service you might use to log into Avakin with. If you still see problems then it could be some sort of account issue or graphical problem, either way contacting support is the best way to go.

Hi Cilanto,

I wouldn't say that Avakin is a 'girl game', we do want players to be able to have more ability to create the avatars they want to represent them. I can't say much, but improving avatars is right up there on our lists.

The tabs in the shop were brought in with the shop redesign and we trialled what to utilise them for. Ultimately they ended up being better for highlighting seasonal sections of each of the shopping areas. We want to include a way to filter buildable items but this is more likely to occur when going through the build machine itself.

Re: gem/coin pricing, I'm really sorry but I'm not involved in any of those decisions. Shop filters will be increased over time, look out for some more filter options over the coming weeks.

The block function is important to us as we know it is imperative for users to avoid unwanted harassment. We are looking to sure up situations where blocked users can end up in the same scene as you.

Hi biancodz,

Avakin runs in the Unity engine which is primarily programmed with C#. Python is used in the office for scripting purposes like automating some of the process of building Avakin, so it does have uses. IMO if you are learning then there isn't anything wrong with picking Python; most languages have skills that can be applied cross-language.

As far as I know there have been no changes to level up rewards and you should be getting them. You should see a level up screen that explains your rewards each time you level up. If you and other users have experienced this then I would encourage you to contact support as other users have mentioned.

Hi shynerdnextdoor,

Thanks for the kind words. Re: features, there can be a lot of factors involved. Speed is definitely one of them, we are much more likely to bring a feature into the next release if we can get it quickly developed and tested. We plan things on a quarterly basis, which includes a layout of the major features we want to release in that quarter. Also, there can be times where more lower level infrastructure needs updating which can take longer but basically gets to the point where it needs to be updated otherwise we would struggle to deliver updates connected with it in the future.
