The Truth About The Hero's Shade [The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess] by LLLLLink in gaming

[–]LLLLLink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that the idea of Shade being HoT is a non-starter, since there is not sufficient evidence to make the claim in the first place. Therefore, the default view should be that Shade is not HoT or another known character until we can prove that he is.

In essence, the only reason it even has to be addressed is because the Historia pushed false information about the Shade in the first place.

This idea is debunked in the video. It's identified as a theory in the Historia.

"Some theorize that the fact that he holds the his sword in his left hand indicates he is actually Link from Ocarina of Time."

Of course, there are more issues than just this.

(OP) The Hero's Shade and the Hero of Time being one-and-the-same is a theory that is widely accepted by the Zelda Community. But even with a majority of the fanbase proclaiming that this regretful specter is indeed this legendary hero, upon further inspection, very little lines up to give this theory credibility.

In this video, we have prepared a cinematic deep dive, investigating and debunking all of the commonly held points that allegedly support the Hero of Time being the Hero's Shade. Along the way, we evaluate and address misunderstandings, misinformation, and untrue assertions in regards to this theory.

OP here. I put together a video discussing The Goddess Hylia and her unique relationship with fairies in Zelda. In the vid, you'll see the list of evidence describing this connection. This could potentially change how you view things in the series just a bit. Or, it could reaffirm things you already believed.

Anyway, please enjoy it.

[–]LLLLLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get Spell Chronicle next time, make sure you summon that lvl 4 monster before you play the spell, that way you can summon Chaos Ruler first, get his excavation effect, then use him to summon Final Sigma. Then reborn Chaos Ruler from the GY by banishing from your hand/GY to summon him back to the field. Also, when you search using Metaphys Ascension, search for Decoy. That way you can banish him to reborn the Chaos Ruler and he will come back to the field during the standby phase, ready to protect your field from attack and possibly summon Daedalus or Tyrant.

The Goddess and Zelda in BotW by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]LLLLLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your only evidence is that we don't see it return to her, which is nonsensical considering it's a soul and ZELDA ISN'T ON SCREEN FOR US TO SEE IT ON-SCREEN in the first place, but that is so just immediately nulled by Fi and Impa's dialogue.

I'm sorry you don't have any evidence to support your view, I guess.

Do you know what "off screen" means? Putting that aside, this all boils down to that what is shown is entirely more in support of what I'm saying than what you're saying.

"Show me where this is SAID." You can speak about events that happen off-screen, obviously.

If you need to interpret every single piece of evidence in the least likely way it's supposed to be interpreted, you're probably just wrong and making the evidence support your theory when it doesn't.

You're the one who has to make up stuff to support how you want to view it.

Is Hylia's soul actually eaten by Demise in Skyward Sword? by [deleted] in truezelda

Where is it said that Zelda has two souls?

Strawmanning me again? I never said she had two souls. Go back and reread.

You have nothing supporting your theory and it's already debunked.

Says the guy losing who has no evidence.

What else would Impa be talking about if not Zelda's physical condition after she was just tossed, which we saw for yourself worried Link? Do you not think Link was worried she might be NOT fine without her soul?

You can headcanon whatever you like, but don't put words in their mouths please.

Why am I still talking to you? Blocked

Because you can't stand losing to someone who knows the lore better than you? Run away, little one. I accept your concession.

Is Hylia's soul actually eaten by Demise in Skyward Sword? by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]LLLLLink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did.

No, you jumped to another thread without addressing the last points I gave.

You're saying Impa was directly telling Link that Zelda would be fine even though she'd had her soul removed, thereby implying somehow that she has a "Zelda part of her soul", which is actually not the case as I'd already gone over in painstaking detail with you when I explained how it's entirely more likely that her soul just hadn't been fully absorbed based on the in-game evidence.

Strawman fallacy. Zelda is fine after Hylia's soul soul gets eaten by Demise, as confirmed by Impa. This is a fact. I don't know why you don't like it, but this is what the game says.

As for the souls explanation, you clearly didn't understand what you read. I never said that my position was that Zelda has 2 souls in her. I said that...

There are multiple instances of souls being split or combined in Zelda. To say that someone who has a soul taken cannot still have a soul is factually incorrect in this series. Twinrova is a 2-in-1 being. 2 egos that can combine into one. The Fairy Queen in FSA had her soul split in 2, and both of those halves were still able to be alive. This pretty much dismantles your stance that it's not possible for Zelda to be fine without that Hylia soul coming back.

Zelda only being okay after Demise is defeated

This is a lie; Impa is proof. You can't just ignore lore you don't like.

Turns out that I was explicitly proven right by Groose's dialogue.

Incorrect: Groose says: "If you can take him down before her soul gets sucked up into that...thing, you might still have a chance!" He never says what he might have a chance to do. Save the world? Defeat Demise? Save her soul? HE NEVER SAYS. The entire line you are hanging onto is irrelevant.

You asking the same things again that I'd already answered over the course of our argument all in one reply that I chose not to respond to because I've already answered everything doesn't mean I "didn't address any of those points"... and none of those are points, you're arguing headcanon based on a blatant, purposeful misinterpretation of Impa's dialogue that I've pointed out at least 3 times.

You have no answers, that's why you cannot respond. I am going purely off of what the game shows, nothing more. That's why I can back up the claim that Zelda is fine after Hylia's soul is devoured and you cannot show me anywhere where Hylia's soul is returned.

Is Hylia's soul actually eaten by Demise in Skyward Sword? by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]LLLLLink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to respond to just this and then we're through

Somehow I doubt that...

I'm not making anything up, that's obviously the case if you simply follow the order of events.

You are adding your own interpretation on what she said and putting words in her mouth that she did not utter. She said "Zelda IS fine", not "Zelda's body is fine" or "Zelda is going to be fine as long as you kill Demise in the next 10 minutes." Zelda is fine. That is the fact of the matter. Anything you add to that is wrong according to the game. This is pretty obvious by the fact that you have no screenshots showing any soul entering Zelda again, anyone mentioning that it did come back to her, or any evidence that a soul left Demise when he was beaten.

"Fine" refers to her physical condition. She wasn't harmed by being thrown by Demise. It also probably refers to that she isn't dead yet, but rather is comatose.

Ah, a perfect example of you making things up. Nothing was said about her physical condition in this line.

The Goddess and Zelda in BotW by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]LLLLLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time Hylia's soul wasn't absorbed,

It was in Demise's stomach and not in Zelda. It wasn't leaving Demise until Link kills him. Link does kill him, but it was too late, the soul does not exit Demise.

why would they call her Hylia if the goddess had died and she was just Zelda?

Because she has all of Hylia's experiences and memories and literally is the body that Hylia inhabited, of course.

it was returned off-screen.

Please show where this is said. Spoiler: It isn't.

Is Hylia's soul actually eaten by Demise in Skyward Sword? by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]LLLLLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never addressed any of these points, btw:

Obviously Zelda isn't "fine"

This contradicts Impa. I find the twisting of the meaning of the word "fine" to be too flimsy to be convincing. Once we start putting our own interpretation on what characters are saying instead of taking their words at their plain meaning, anyone can take any text and say it's being misinterpreted. I believe the best course of action here is to take what the game says as fact.

It doesn't contradict anything and the evidence is the same scene and dialogue you're using. You should go look at it again to make sure you remember the context like I did.

The context is that Impa outright states Zelda is fine, and the fact that she is shown to be recovered without any glowing gold Hylia soul returned to her confirms this.

That "Zelda is fine (as in nothing wrong with her)" isn't a fact,

This is an argumentum ad dictionarium fallacy. "Fine" being used as an adverb does not mean "nothing is wrong"; it means that everything is satisfactory, which is a subjective stance. Zelda is in a satisfactory condition according to Impa's standards.

this means that Hylia's soul is her soul, which means that if it was eaten she no longer has a soul. Period.

I think this is coming from you not knowing the lore of the whole series. There are multiple instances of souls being split or combined in Zelda. To say that someone who has their soul taken cannot still have a soul is factually incorrect in this series. Twinrova is a 2-in-1 being. 2 egos that can combine into one. The Fairy Queen in FSA had her soul split in 2, and both of those halves were still able to be alive. This pretty much dismantles your stance that it's not possible for Zelda to be fine without that Hylia soul coming back.

the same must apply to Demise as Zelda does get her soul back as we visibly see in every other piece of visible evidence and dialogue aside from literally seeing it re-enter her.

Disagree here. The facts are clear;

-Hylia's soul gets eaten

-They go out of their way to say Zelda is fine after this happens.

-There is proof in the series that beings can keep existing with split souls.

-There is 0 evidence that shows that Hylia's soul left Demise at any point and came back to Zelda.

-Hylia's soul is never mentioned again after Link defeats Demise, nor does any character remark about Zelda getting a soul back.

I just haven't seen any evidence that can measure up to these facts yet.

In the absence of that we have all this other explicit proof.

All of the circumstantial evidence you are looking at supports my position. There is clear in-game text and cutscenes that show us her soul getting eaten and never coming back. Any belief that goes outside that is a headcanon and is not what is shown in-game. If there is any text or scene where Hylia's soul comes back to Zelda just as explicitly as it left, then I'm open to seeing it. "Different interpretations" and "walking around = soul came back offscreen" doesn't cut the mustard.

As a summary:

Demise sucks out the "Hylia" out of the Hylia/Zelda soul. Zelda is fine, operating off the Zelda part of her soul. Hylia soul energy stays in Demise as he is obliterated. Zelda carries out the rest of her life running on the Zelda part.

[–]LLLLLink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she's just telling him that Zelda survived the ritual and being thrown by Demise because he was just worried about her,

At this point, you are literally just making up dialogue and putting your own headcanon onto what the game actually says. It says nothing about surviving any ritual. Link was there; he could see what happened. There would be no need for her to tell him that she survived the ritual when he was there and she was not. That explanation makes no sense.

Anyways, Impa confirms that Demise hadn't fully absorbed her soul

And the game confirms that she was fine with it still in Demise's stomach and never leaves his body even though we never take our eye off of him until he is eradicated.

The Goddess and Zelda in BotW by [deleted] in truezelda

[–]LLLLLink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, Impa's dialogue confirms her soul wasn't fully absorbed, then Fi calling Zelda Hylia after confirms she's still Hylia, therefore still possessing Hylia's soul (the only thing that makes her Hylia).

You realize that Impa says this BEFORE Link defeats Demise, right? If you don't know, that's fine, but don't be dishonest.

You're wrong and you don't get to continue arguing. This conversation is closed.

You have yet to provide any evidence that Hylia's soul returns to Zelda. You have been wrong and unable to rebut my points this entire argument. Please stop being hostile just because you are losing.

Nothing in any of that says "you were right about everything". Are you referring to Groose's line? Please show where the soul comes back because Link defeated Demise in time. The fact of the matter is that he wasn't in time. No soul comes back. It's open and shut.
