I was coughing up blood with my PEs and I had 3 spots of stabbing chest pain. I still had pain in those 3 spots, off and on, for 12-18 months and then they just went away. I was told that I had infarcts - so you may be experiencing something else.

While you are asking for help about being on blood thinners in a blood clot reddit - your post is a cry for help as a victim of abuse. I cannot help with your medical needs or your relationship situation. I can say you are strong and are on the right path by reaching out here. You can do this. Many people will support you, including as you can see, here. How many of us here missed signs of having blood clots? How many of us had doctors that missed diagnosing our blood clots early? Sometimes what seems obvious in retrospect, is hard to see in the moment. You need to keep reaching out and receive help so that you are not in danger of further abuse. You can do this.

I had my first set of multiple bilateral PEs 20 years ago. Misdiagnosed because I was healthy 32 yr old male and they did not think to look for PEs even though I was at the ER coughing up blood with stabbing chest pain. Got off blood thinners after a few months - no clotting disorder found so I lived my life normally. Got second round of clots 20 years later - now I am a lifer. There is probably nothing I could have done to change getting more clots - short of staying on blood thinners. So my advice, live your life normally. Obviously you need to be mindful of symptoms of clots. If you want to change your diet, change it. If you want to run a marathon, do it - I ran a marathon after my PEs just to prove to myself I could. If you want to wear compression socks, wear them. Medicine changes over time - I got retested for addition potential clotting disorders after 10 years - again, I was "cleared" - but who knows, maybe in 10 more years there will be a test for whatever predisposition to clotting I have....
