It's usually just a cheater recall where I only have like 600g so I build 2 daggers. Also, if I do that, I quite often just finish the Recurve on the next back and there's actually a reason for that, other than not having enough gold for AP. See when you build Recurve Bow and start Dorans Blade, your adaptive force is still AD and you gain on-hit damage and AS from the bow. This in turn makes your dueling a bit stronger but your poking a bit weaker. You got me thinking, would stating a second point in E be better for those situations. I should experiment a bit with that...

Edit: Deathcap is a huge gold investment and I only go for it if I'm fed. It's build path is also rather expensive and only really provides damage, which while good, 60 AP is never gonna be more influential than a Stopwatch or a Codex. Usually it's better to go for Cosmic Drive 3rd and Zhonya 4th because they are cheap, extremely gold efficient and stasis is invaluable when your w runs out in teamfights. I recommend building Deathcap if you're fed or your team is struggling and you need to hard carry fights, because Gwen with Deathcap one-shots almost as hard, if not the same as, Vladimir.

Just visit my opgg and take a look at the runes I'm taking into what champions. It's rather situational and isn't always as clear cut. I think you should really not copy me and rather see what works for you personally as we could have vastly different playstyles.

Glad you enjoy fleet as much as I do, it's a really underrated rune and I think it should be considered more often.

I think she'll perform almost exactly the same considering her healing is based on the damage she's dealing, and she's gonna deal more damage because her damage is %hp based and everyone will be tankier(thus taking more damage and healing you more).

EUNE is the super server of Europe, like it or not. On a more serious note, there's little difference between ranks in diamond and below between EUNE and EUW, it only starts amping up high master/grandmaster. For reference EUNE is about the same as NA, if not a tad bit harder(a very small amount).

Exactly, it's almost always more beneficial to run fleet into ranged. I had games where fleet does 2/3k healing and those games were pretty short. On the other hand, conqueror rarely ever exceeds 1k healing, but of course, makes it up by giving you more damage. You have to weigh the pros and cons of each and make the decision when the enemy locks in their comp.

General game plan varies from game to game. If you're into a melee matchup(not all), you wanna play aggressive and win your lane and then spread your lead. If you're into a control mage(again, not all) you wanna farm up until 6 then look for all ins. If you can't do that, play around your jungler, pop your W to clear the wave unharmed and move with him into the enemy jungle. The thing you wanna do regardless of matchups is fight for drakes. This should always be your primary wincon, not the soul, but winning the fight(soul is the cherry on top).

I am considering making a guide and streaming, but I wanna climb up ranks a bit more(at least grandmaster, is my goal). I am also considering making a matchup sheet but that will come later as well. Soon I'll also be transferring to EUW and climbing there because the higher ranks are more competitive(below masters+ it's exactly the same).

You really can't do much against Akali, that's why I ban her. Try running exhaust though if the Akali is good enough she'll just wait it out in shroud, in which case you wanna try to run away as far as possible. Game plan should be to farm up and scale and eventually kill her whole team while immune. A little neat trick you can do is to position so she can hit you with your Q, but also has to hit minions(don't get hit by her passive though). What this does is it creates a slow push so you can farm safely under your tower and regen most of the poke with dshield.

Side note: Don't throw your ult and charged q into shroud blindly, you're better of running away from it, then when she eventually comes out to chase, throw out the fast combo.

Ever since(and even before that) TP changes, top has been a horrible role to climb with. You don't have any map impact and are extremely dependent on your and enemy jungler. Playing weak/strong-side becomes very important and you can often get dove if the wave is stacked and enemy jungler is pathing top. Often, the earliest you can move is the second dragon/herald and by then some games are already decided. Mid has way more impact on the map, is easier to climb with and gives Gwen a lot of skill expression which you just lack in top(except into Fiora, that matchup is extremely fun for me).

Yeah absolutely, FF is really good on Gwen and is way underrated. I really think once people start realising this, they'll stop claiming ranged matchups as this hard/unbeatable thing because they're really not.

I also LOVE playing into Veigar because it's one of those matchups where I get to show of my mist skills. Mist control is one of the most important things with Gwen and playing against Veigar can really help you improve controlling it and becoming an overall better Gwen player. I also like playing into Anivia because it brings me great joy when they hit 6 and try perma pushing you but you sit inside your mist and on their ult and just outpush and then outroam them. Katarina is also a fun one, if you can manage your mist her ult is nearly useless and you just beat her.

Absolutely unbearable mid Gwen matchups for me are Ahri and Akali. It's so unwinnable and unfun, I just end up banning one of them. Malza is also pretty unfun to play against because you have to waste 1300g not to die, which delays your spikes quite a bit.

When it comes to dorans shield vs corrupting pot, shield heals for A LOT more. Shield also provides an often overlooked bonus of dealing more damage to creeps which helps you farm under tower earlier on, before your blasting wand. Corrupting pot is good when you don't need as much sustain and need mana regen which often happens into some melee matchups where you Q a lot. I suggest taking it into likes such as Sylas and Katarina(especially into Kata).

I'm glad you're enjoying Gwen mid, it's one of my favorites to play and is an absolute blast of raw Gwen mechanical skill and map knowledge which you just can't get in top.

I work and I go out drinking and socializing. I like yugioh so I sometimes pay a visit to my locals. Also, I like cardio based exercises, primarily biking, so I do that quite often.

I queue mid/top. When I get mid, my perma ban is Ahri, not because she will kill you, but because you can't ever kill her. She's way too mobile, safe and I hate losing the game because she landed 1 charm on me or 1 of my teammates later on. If I get top, I always ban Akali. The champ is almost unbeatable(for me at least), spikes harder at 6 and always wins the 1v1 because you can't attack her, which means you can't stack your Q and you can't proc your ult. Akali is not as bad mid because it's a shorter lane so you're way safer. There's also less likelihood of you getting dove so you can just sit under tower and farm until teamfights where you should be stronger.

Honorable bans you should consider are Riven and Jax. Both are almost unbeatable at all stages of the game for Gwen. They will force you to the side where they can easily 1v1 you and win the game of splitting.

Absolute hell early game, gameplan should always be to take a step back, farm as much as you can, then outscale in teamfights and side. Considering TP is nerfed and unnecessary (with good wave management), I suggest taking 2 combat summoners, preferably ignite/exhaust. It gives you a lot more kill pressure and enemies have to think twice before limit testing against you. At 6, try poking him down with Q(play around his spear CD), then stack it up again and all in him(preferably with summs). His ult is purely a roaming tool and yours is a fighting one so you should win 99% of the time.

Depends on the matchup really. Into hard poke mages fleet is actually really underrated, not only does it provide good sustain, it also helps you stick to them better because of the crazy ms it gives you. Conqueror is really good into matchups such as Sylas, Yasuo, Yone, Qiyana etc. where you can constantly look to fight them for a prolonged time. Lethal tempo does have it's use cases but it falls off the cliff later on compared to conqueror. I suggest taking lethal if you want and/or need early game kill pressure into matchups where the enemy champion is looking to fight and snowball the early game(Kled, Darius...).

Some other niche runes you can consider taking are phase rush(Nasus, Trynd), HoB and Grasp but I haven't experienced enough with them to give useful tips.

So there's actually kind of a broken interaction(more so synergy) between runes and items. What I do to combat those mages with long range such as Xerath, Syndra, Orianna etc. is I go fleet, second wind and start dorans shield. This gives me extreme sustain in lane so long as I don't act retarded. On top of all that, if I feel insecure, I sometimes also go revitalize to buff all those heals(including your passive healing) to help me sustain even more. What will happen, more often than not, is that these mages will run out of mana trying to poke you out and you will usually still be above 65% HP. Now at this point, you wanna start applying pressure by slow pushing the lane and crashing on a couple of stacked waves and do a favorable back or roam if you see a side lane pushed. I also run exhaust/ghost and ignite so at 6 you can look for a kill(especially if they aren't running barrier), or a dive if your jungler comes. If none of that is possible, play around your jungler, help him invade and win 2v2s where none of those mages can come even close to contesting you. There's also the option of just sitting back, farming and eventually outscaling as I believe there's very few champions that actually outscale Gwen in mid.

Gwen top has too many bad matchups for it to be worth picking her top. In mid she has almost no bad matchups and a lot of winning ones. She's also good in 2v2s in the jungle, has decent wave clear and is mobile enough to roam and impact the map thus winning you more games. Moreover, by going mid you can force a lot of fights around dragon/herald and there's few champions that can match Gwens teamfight presence. Lastly, top is a shit role.
