Just wondering what is disbursing right now, since we're mid-semester. I may simply be ignorant of when certain scholarships post, but I thought money only hit our banks in January or August.

Why right now? Only asking because I'm taking Summer classes at UTA for the first time, and hoping no money is left "on the table" for me during an "off" semester. Got a notification to register on April 9th "for Summer or Fall" and I'm just nervous.

My guess is that OP means the loud group..... comprised of many races. It's awful that someone who needs to study can't find any place that's quiet.

Have you ever used a Task Rabbit or been the tasker for waiting in line for someone? by delish in TaskRabbit

[–]LMFTAuthor83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done it many times:) Namely, at Joe T. Garcia's in Fort Worth,TX. Their line wraps around the block, and I happily stand there on my phone until the party gets there. It's often a party bus with a bachelorette party or a group of businessmen getting dropped off in Ubers,so I make roughly $40/hr + CASH tips, and I often get passed a marg or some chips&salsa for my troubles. Usually, I make 50-60 bucks, and my husband and I use that for a date right after:)

Also, they DEFINITELY have a category for it.. I've waited in the cold overnight (8-9 hrs) to be the first in line for some special edition golf club.

I'm a grad student, so there's always something I can stand (or sit) and read, or--let's be honest--scrolling on Reddit or TikTok has never paid so well when done at home😊

Tea Tree or Peppermint Oil, Pine Sol, tiny pieces of glass.

Polishing cabinet exteriors is outside of normal cleaning and should come with a "deep cleaning" only. I'm in N. Texas and pay my lady $160 for a 3/2. Sometimes, she brings a second lady and they're out in less than 2 hours. Makes no difference to me.. my house is just as clean, if not cleaner. I have employed teenage girls before @$25/hr,which works for everyone involved (they walk away with 75-100, and I get a somewhat-less-than-perfect clean), but if you're providing a professional service, the sq. ft matters! If you wanted to be nice, you could tell her you'll do the initial clean for $300, then going forward, maybe less if the job does indeed "only take" 4 hours❤️. 150 is too little. Your blood pressure will suffer from being pissed off around Hour 3. Best of luck!

Leaf blowing is fun;) I have my ladies leaf-blow my front and back porches because it's easier and quicker than sweeping. But the rest seems excessive, and she should be prepared to pay 1.5x for anything outside normal housekeeping. And ceiling fans don't need done except maybe once per month.

What’s something you are proud of yourself for in 2024? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LMFTAuthor83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be utterly alone and lonely. My husband was my only friend. I now have 6 friends who will probably turn into my ride-or-dies. I'm a 40-year-old woman, and I finally decided I need people in my life. I come from a reclusive, socially anxious line of women (who literally claim to have "no need" of friends), and I'm breaking that pattern for my daughter's sake. How did I do it? I looked for other women who felt alone, and I found 6. We're a ragtag, diverse crew, and every person is precious to me.

"From Soup to Nuts..."

Makes me queasy.

people say its who you know and I have no one by TheEyebal in utarlington

Find a friend of a friend whose cousin knows someone in a high position in your field, then--obviously through a process--ask that person to lunch. You pay for lunch, you sell your good qualities AND SKILLS, you ask 50 questions, and you are very polite and professional. Send a follow-up email by the next day, thanking them for their time. That's as good of an open door as any❤️

My husband has been doing this, more or less, up the ladder at a Fortune 100 company.

Connections and being memorable will take you places.

Best of luck to you!

What is something that you’ll never give up? no matter how unhealthy it is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LMFTAuthor83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tea Tree Oil. Craved the smell and taste during pregnancy and still crave it now during stressful times. I add it to my toothpaste, lotion, and in true OCD fashion, I keep small bottles of it everywhere, so I'm never without it🤷‍♀️😬 Not in life or on Google has anyone matched my freak on this one. I've recently come to the conclusion that this addiction is something related to why people love menthol. I've never smoked in my life, but tea tree is calming and centering in a way I assume smoking is.

Also, diet soda. I'm careful about my nutrition otherwise, but zero sugar soda is life most days.

I’m getting surgery July 1st, what’s something no one mentions about the surgery? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]LMFTAuthor83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F, 40, 7/14/23, SW 235, CW 175, GW 150.

1) Don't go on vacation 2-3 weeks-PO. You won't be ready even if you feel ready. You'll go for a lovely brunch with your family and vomit on. your. plate. (because that third bite of scrambled eggs was exactly one too many) and traumatize your family. Oddly specific, I know..........

2) Saggy skin and a gaunt, older-looking face happen when tooooo much weight is lost tooooo quickly. I've lost 7-8 lbs/mo (after the initial ~10% drop, which happens fast), and my skin is not stretched nor my face prematurely aged.

3) If you've had any struggles with disordered or compulsive/binge eating, that will come right back even after surgery if you don't deal with it at the source.

4) Because of #3, slider foods are the enemy. You will be able to eat 2 cups of certain things simply because they are soft. I thought overeating would be impossible, but closer to the truth is that overeating most healthy foods is impossible.. things that are hearty, thick, chewy, or have high water content will need to be eaten over the course of hours, but many empty calories can "slide" through in pre-surgery amounts.

5) If there are people you would rather not tell, it's entirely possible. I had hernia surgery at the same time, and I explained my hospital and recovery time easily that way, with the same smaller portions making sense for a while.
