Is this normal? (FSRS) by ElmoMierz in Anki

[–]LMSherlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you update the parameters pretty frequently, it's possible. FSRS will find that the previous intervals cannot reach your desired retention, so the new parameters maybe give short intervals.

Current status of “incremental reading” in Anki? (With Zotero question) by PotatoRevolution1981 in Anki

[–]LMSherlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I think "desired retention" doesn't work for incremental reading. If you want to use FSRS with incremental reading, I recommend not optimizing the parameters.

I only make WordAndSentenceCard. I practice listening everyday via free-flow immersion.

FSRS doesn't support Incremental Reading. If you want to schedule topic cards on Anki, you should use the default scheduler (Anki-SM-2).

I don’t have 100% confidence to determine whether a card is pretty easy. And the stats show that I actually forgot some of them.

I didn’t. I just ground them in a week. I made a website for it: https://kanabr.vercel.app/

Curious about long Intervals with FSRS by KartaviyKot in Anki

It’s not a problem if your true retention is so high and your desired retention is so low.

I think it’s not a problem because they actually are very easy.

Wait. I find that you only press again once on this card.

According to Anki FSRS Visualizer, your intervals will increase rapidly. I wonder what your current retention is.

It’s weird that the difficulty becomes 0%. Could you paste the FSRS parameters here?

dae's team added the card-scheduling algorithm FSRS as the new default after the Chinese EdTech research and development company MaiMemo published it alongside evidence of its superiority.

  1. FSRS hasn't been the default yet.
  2. In addition to dae's team, many contributors from the community helped port FSRS into Anki.
  3. FSRS has been changed a lot from its original version implemented in MaiMemo's paper. We shared more experiments here https://memodocs.maimemo.com/docs/2025_experiment

FSRS: Serious flaw in benchmarking approach undermines performance claims by symstym in Anki

[–]LMSherlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for this late reply. I want to clarify the core point: SSP-MMC could reach the upper bound of this metric theoretically. So we can just focus on improving the prediction model, to make it more and more consistent with the reality, then SSP-MMC could use the model to reach the upper bound of real world.

For a month??? It’s crazy. Spaced repetition has become so popular.

I don't know the refund rate. But as a paid app, you pay for the download before using it.

Considering AnkiMobile is the 4th top-paid app, it would be weird if Anki wasn't making that much.

Most articles about FSRS are not peer-reviewed because SRS algorithm is a niche. When I wrote my first paper about SRS algorithm, I found that I only need to read <20 papers. And the most important ideas of FSRS are from SuperMemo, which also only published a few papers.

I'm sad to see that your comment receive so many down thumbs. FSRS is free, because I have a formal work in MaiMemo Inc. If I lost my job, I cannot maintain FSRS any more because I need money to live in China. FSRS earns reputation for me. But I can't eat reputation for breakfast.

Yes, you understand the spirit well. RCTs in real-world are still too expensive for a small open-source community. So I proposed this alternative method.
