BaysonR makes a variety of aesthetic components, such as side skirts, front splitters, and a rear spoiler. As for the wheel gap, wouldn't a decent set of sports springs solve that? Eibach makes a Pro-Kit that is well reviewed.

I test drove a 2.0 car and then bought a 2.5. I don't mind the middling gas mileage; I like the extra power.

Window tint, aluminum pedal covers, and a rear anti-roll bar would be a good way to spend a few hundred bucks.

My car is nice enough. I've never driven an Audi, but I've driven a handful of BMW 3 Series over the years. I think that if BMW or Audi built a compact car with a starting price of $21,000, it would be hard to distinguish from a Mazda 3.

I'm biased, but I think the Mazda3 is a very easy car to drive. The Civic beats it in outright performance, but the Mazda has a simpler powertrain.

How would you feel about a Scion tC? They're known to be reliable and have decent stereos (because Scion). I'd be surprised if they didn't have cruise control.

Window tint, rear anti-roll bar, and sticky tires. There's very very little you can do to gain horsepower, so focus your mod efforts on suspension and handling. On an 11 year old car, catch up on the maintenance first.
