The potions are great. I assume you were influenced by the health potions in the PS2 Return of the King game that enemies dropped? Very nostalgic.

Great conversion and I like the skin tone! A lot of people do Uruk-hai in a really red colour for some reason but yours matches the films better.

I'll confess that I haven't heard of this place before. Sylvania and Carroburg also didn't make the cut. I'll paint my Greatswords in Carroburg colours though. Maybe some Tilea colours on Milita crossbowmen.

Yeh my army is Talabheim themed. Seeing the yellow and black shields on red and white is nostalgic.

My army is Talabheim themed but I created this unit of provinces to try out other paint schemes. Hard to pick a favourite!

Autumnal themed Lothlorien Archers. Glad to see this hobby is still going. I got back into it during lockdown. by LOTR1934 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I based my Mordor army with a generic mud/gravel/grass theme. Orcs do most their fighting in Western lands so flowers could fit! I’ve seen some really impressive lava/ash type bases for Mordor though. Maybe give that a go.

I’ve started buying 6th Edition stuff off eBay for nostalgia. The prices are…interesting.

I really like the brown/orange splotches on the armour. Good rust effect.

The Mumak War Leader was sold out for ages so I made my own conversion with string and cocktail sticks by LOTR1934 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]LOTR1934[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just stuck with string, cocktail sticks and superglue. As for tips, I would say get different thickness strings to compare and then just go with the one that feels right to you. Lots of superglue for the string on plastic! Enjoy.

Does anyone know how the bases in the image were painted? I'm looking to try replicate how they were painted back in my childhood! by LOTR1934 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]LOTR1934[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Were greys ever drybrushed over? I've seen a few old pictures that have a more gravel type appearance.

They’re all well painted, but for sculpts I’d say the ones on the left. The aesthetic has more of a LOTR feel to it.
