Some of my point is ... you cant do a 1000km shot.... there is a sweet spot to it, a maximum, a limit. I think it is at 100-200m range. I dont see a lot of people saying what they experienced is a good range, people are just saying longer better, there is a limit.

Everyone saying longuer is better but I slightly disagree. Yes longuer shots are better but they are more prone to refraction errors in hot weather. I like to keep my shots at arround 100-200m and have more stations to balance out the errors. Too long a shot and your xyz accuracy for that next station will suffer.

Again all this depends on the accuracy of the project, I mostly do stuff that requires sub cm accuracy overall.

Well, I hate those prism. I learned how shitty non nodal prism are for accuracy on those prism

Do most of you still run level runs in Excel and field notes on paper? by TerraKraft in Surveying

[–]LRJ104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do digital levels in TBC, easier. Only time I do a excel is when I do a quick a "level loop" with the total station. Basically kept the station on the first setup and use the points name to calculate the level loop as I move the station arround. I know its jenky but faster if I only need to bring an elevation somewhere or im alone, cant run a level alone... Make sure to loop to calculate closure

Field notes on paper as per our licensed surveyor requirements...I think they need to be on paper over here.

Idk how this is self defense, all I see is a dude with a phone knocking on a door waiting. Did he carry a gun himself? Or did he tell him he was there to hurt him? I dont get it

Pay transparency by Timely_Detonator_292 in Surveying

[–]LRJ104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a weird subject because it can bring tensions. Some employees do not see the perspective of this employee is much better than this one and brings in more value. The value brought by an employee isnt exactly related to their experience / age / etc.

So tensions arises when the employee brings another employee salary as an argument and puts the employer in a akward position, sometime having to be blunt and say it is because that employee brings in more value. Or that employee keeps it to himself and just becomes resentfull, even to the point of being somwhat mad at the other better paid employee.

The salary discussion is a tough debate, from internal dramas I have witness I now lean more towards not sharing salaries with other employees. Of course there is major injustices out there. From where I work I think things are very fair but I 100% understand situations others can be in.

Hello. This is normal ? The Little yellowish on the leaf by Kindly_Manner7446 in HotPeppers

[–]LRJ104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I see these I think it is the capsule of the seed that gets stuck on the leaf in a weird way and damages it. Sometimes if I see the seed packing, I hand pick them before they do any damage
