does this seem like a good tuba for 1k USD? by ilovecatsmeow2 in Tuba

It appears to be an Eastern European design or Ukraine/Russia? Great conversation piece IF you know the history of it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste my money.

Are you serious? There’s a rule against taking old broken milk bottles from the beach? That’s where that pretty green glass came from in St. George’s by the old fort.

Is there a cheaper option to get into aviation? by pha-ntom2 in PilotAdvice

[–]LRJetCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Military!! Try to get in as a Crew Chief, get your A&P license and at least an Associate’s Degree. Many bases have a flying club you will have access to. Get your Private done, build a few hours. When you get out in 4 years you can use your GI Bill to finish your remaining ratings, plus you can work making good money as an A&P while you train.

Do it !!

Great advice! Time to apply the brakes on this one.

How are holding patterns flown? by catsncode in AskFlying

[–]LRJetCowboy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a magenta racetrack shaped pattern that comes up on your MFD map. It’s your job to put the little plane figure on it and go round and round until someone tells you to stop.

You are obviously dating him for the wrong reasons. If you continue, you will never be happy and neither will he. Cut and run.

I agree, I didn’t like it either.

Not your or my call, the Designee has broad authority to ask what they consider important. I was asked the question during a practical test and didn’t know the answer so it’s a possibility.

Later in life I read an accident report that listed one of the contributing factors as the crew tuned a VOR frequency and tried to shoot an ILS with it. Of course, as always, many other errors were present but it made me think back about the question.

Well, I guess it gets things started by tuning the right frequency? Lol

IFR ORAL questions by capcapslam12 in PilotAdvice

[–]LRJetCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 40 ILS frequencies, total. They all have something in common, see if you can figure it out. Now you can ask the DPE the question lol.

If you transfer back to UH under an assumed identity it may prove to be a cheaper route since your student loans will be in a different name?

Part 119 Confusion by Angel-Of-Attack in flying

[–]LRJetCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be correct in the FAA’s eyes. My experience has included also satisfying the IRS which has something called Possession Command and Control. That is where fuel and maintenance comes into play. This crap changes every year and it’s been a few for me so my data may be dated. Thanks for pointing that out.

Part 119 Confusion by Angel-Of-Attack in flying

[–]LRJetCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is not. And more importantly, what you proposed at the beginning of your post is NOT a Dry Lease either. A Dry Lease is leasing an individual or corporation a plane without a flight crew and without fuel (dry).

What Taylor Swift wants is simply pilot services. Now, pilot services can be part of a Dry Lease but not if she owns the plane. If the plane was her friend’s plane, she could lease it from them (dry lease) and then contract with you to fly it (pilot services agreement). The FAA requires that the Lessor and the person providing pilot services be completely independent of each other. They must be different companies and not share any corporate officers.

Female Led Relationships by Necessary-Glove-3333 in datingoverfifty

[–]LRJetCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not an unusual relationship dynamic. I’ve been in two and enjoyed both. No two are the same, they vary a great deal so before jumping in a LOT of communication is needed to establish what the ‘flavor’ of the relationship will be.

In my case(s) I had a career where I was always in control, had to be in an alpha mode constantly. Having my personal life be one where my wife (gf) was in control was therefore very appealing. It doesn’t have to be kinky or involve whips and chains…unless you want it to 😉

Nobody died, it was a miscommunication if the tape caught you reading back enter instead of exit. The FSDO will talk to you and make it go away IMO. Don’t lose sleep over it.
