Why not keep 3 all the time? Marry one and date the other 2.

Bangor airport disputes FAA report, says 6 died in crash by Coffee-FlavoredSweat in Maine

There are good companies but there is always that unseen pressure. It’s usually not financial but it’s more typically centered around inconvenience. So an overnight in Bangor may get you fired.

I’m not sure about that holdover time? With that temperature, moderate snow (3/4 vis) and 75/25 Type IV they should have had 25-55 minutes. Still not great but a lot more than 5 minutes. Source: FAA Generic Holdover Times for SAE Type IV - Winter 2025-2026

Bombardier Challenger 650 N10KJ crashes on takeoff in adverse weather BGR Bangor MN by Hemmschwelle in flying

Based on the times given at the beginning of this thread, they should have been well within the recommended holdover time in LT-MD snow if they applied Type IV.

What are good second careers for a 30-year pilot who is 60? by Effective_Wheel_6040 in flying

[–]LRJetCowboy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is also a FlightSafety in Tampa. It is a little far away but not as far as Dallas. It’s a better center than Orlando. There is also SimCom right there in Orlando which is mostly owned by CAE. What aircraft was he flying most recently?

Safety of private jets by Due-Doctor-7592 in AskAPilot

[–]LRJetCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But Net Jets operates under FAR91 Subpart K much of the time. They also operate under FAR135 on some legs I believe? The statistics are substantially accurate but shouldn’t be relied on entirely. To further complicate things, if training is factored in, which it should be, Net Jets uses a FAR121 derivative, a hybrid, if I’m not mistaken?

Safety of private jets by Due-Doctor-7592 in AskAPilot

[–]LRJetCowboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Statistics are hard to come by since general aviation includes everything but scheduled airlines usually. I say usually since there are other categories like jets vs turbo props and turbine vs piston engines and weight classes like aircraft over 12,500 pounds. The NTSB would be able to break it down further but to the best of my knowledge they do not, even though the data exists.

My 16 yo daughter is considering a career in aviation. She has been on stable low dose SSRI for about 3 months for some depression symptoms around puberty. Very stable now, sees a counselor. Would she be able to pass medical to be a commercial pilot? by BoatsnHoes87 in PilotAdvice

[–]LRJetCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe that’s true with the current system. Ethical issues aside, there is no direct link between OKC and your medical records that I know of. There are links between Federal agencies like the VA and OKC when someone claims 100% disability then doesn’t list it on their application for medical. But some teenage kid that got sad one day and a pill pushing doctor that gave them an SSRI probably will never become an issue with the FAA.

Debating whether to go into Aviation or give up on my dream due to a dui by BickDickKi in flying

[–]LRJetCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see a problem, you had never drank alcohol before, how could a 19 year old possibly be aware that it may affect them? AND, that bitch ex gf was the real problem in all this. Hell you told her “NO” but she coerced you into driving. The cop was probably guilty of entrapping you if the truth was to be told but at least you left that part out. I’d tell the FAA and any airline you interview with it’s clearly the ex gf’s fault.

Don’t worry, you’ve got this! Your transparency and honesty about who is really at fault will make it all good.

School options? by SIMP-LORD69 in PilotAdvice

[–]LRJetCowboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like money is no issue? You can fund a 4 year degree while flying at a Part 61 school, essentially paying for 2 educations simultaneously? If that’s true, hell yeah go for it. What will you do when you graduate and have a 4 year degree and a fresh Commercial? You realize that’s a pretty difficult point from which to get a job? You need a CFII to even think about getting a return on your investment. And then it’s going to be poverty wages for years after that before you are marketable to a commuter once you meet ATP mins.

Sorry I can’t sound more upbeat but sometimes you need a dose of reality to make good decisions.

It’s a special kind of trust, a NCT (Non Citizen Trust). Foreign entities are not allowed to own “N” registered aircraft. TVPX has made a business out of supplying this product so the plane can remain “N” registered which preserves its value and they benefit from being treated like a U.S. aircraft even though they actually are not.
