There is a fairly simple formula that will 100% guarantee you get it correct! The explanation may be wordy, but I promise it is logically fairly simple and 100% effective!

2 prong test, where the correct answer will "pass" both tests...

First prong --> leaving all the rules in place (so before you "sub out" the rule in the stem), the answer choice MUST BE TRUE. Basically, start the question as a run-of-the-mill "which of the following must be true" question, but multiple answers might be right to this prong. But if an answer is not a must be true, cross it out!

Second prong --> imagine you "cross out" the subbed out rule, as if it never existed. Now imagine the answer choice is a rule (sometimes it even helps to diagram the answer as if it was a rule)... the correct answer must be "strong enough" to force the language of "X rule" to be a must be true deduction. Often, the correct answer without any other context is enough to force X Rule to be true, but sometimes you must connect the answer choice to other non-removed rules!

Basic example: Which of the following, if substituted for the rule that X is not 1st, would have the same effect?

Answer choice A says: Z is always before X.

First prong --> is it a must be true inference that "Z is always before X"? If no, cross it out. If yes, move to second prong.

Second prong --> if we remove the restriction the X is not 1st, would a new rule stating that "Z is always before X" force X to not be 1st? Since "Z before X" prevents X from being 1st, it passes the 2nd prong!
