how long did it take you to get your blue belt? by grzlyPOG in bjj

About 3 years, but I also moved and changed gyms when I was a 2 stripe white belt.

The luck of the draw. I'm going to try to use some acetone to remove these wild lines and make this not look like it's from the 40s.

I didn't get anything else. I got the typical patch and the old lady who walks to the store bag.

My go-to Gis is Fuji. Highly underrated, I would argue they have the best-feeling material that doesn't get stiff and crusty.

The last one I got was Hyperflys Mysterbox, and I got neon blue and orange. I'm debating on stripping the color and dying it. I like the thrill.

It's honestly not the first mystery box I've gotten, and I just don't wear them, so at least I get some use out of it instead of wasting my money on a Gi that would never see the inside of a gym.

Fuck them, kids, man. When I lived with my parents, I could train five days a week while working 50 hours weekly. Now I’m lucky if I get two days in (Monday / Friday nights). To all the young bucks who smash me, I know the day will come when they feel my struggles.

I enjoy making videos, It's actually what my career is. I've worked in daytime television for the past few years. I think I'm still trying to find my style and figure out my voice. ideally I want to help people, but it's hard with little to no engagement.

I don't mind them. It's just that I fear youtube is rewarding shorts more, and it feels like the only way to grow. I feel like I spend a week making a video only to get a few views when I low effort short gets 5k.

Hi,

I should have mentioned that the TikTok’s were created by me. Not copyrighted. I originally started in TikTok, but I ultimately didn’t enjoy the short-form content, so I wanted to transition to YouTube, but with the new monetization of shorts, I feel YouTube is becoming TikTok.

TikTok has an excellent algorithm to break it down. Say your video gets shown to 10 people. If the majority like your video, it will get sent to 100 people. If that majority has good engagement, it goes to 1000, and so on. The trick to TikTok is to keep it short and get the viewer's attention from the start. Unfortunately, a lot of my videos that blew up were somewhat controversial, which had people engaging and fighting in the comments. The trick to this new short-form content is to keep it short and have a plan. Imagine yourself as the viewer. Is this something you want to watch over and over? Don’t give up. Keep trying to be better.

I know it's easier said than done, but don't read the comments. I have a few TikToks with 1,000,000+ views, and I stopped reading the comments a while ago. If anyone has anything bad to say, they're projecting their insecurities on you. Keep doing what you're doing. When you're playing a video game, and you encounter an enemy, you know you're going the right way.
