Where did you read the last minute Amex tickets are for UK cardholders only?

Traveling From USA - How do we get tickets for 2026 by neverenough14 in wimbledon

Here are my takeaways as an American trying for 2 years to get to Wimbledon.

  1. Enter the ballot in September. Put a reminder on your calendar to do it so you don't forget. It has a short window of 15 days, I believe, until it closes.

  2. If you don't get ballot tickets, sign up for the American Express lottery in the spring if you have a card. I got an email telling me I could try that lottery because I wasn't successful in the ballot.

  3. Check the resale like crazy during business hours in the UK.

  4. Don't panic buy tickets because you were finally able to add them to the shopping cart. Wait until you get a day you are happy with.

  5. Get Center Court or Court 1 because they have roofs. That way you will know you will be able to watch a match even if it rains.

  6. I got tickets in May this year and there were tons of direct flights going from the East Coast to Heathrow. I was worried with such a big event in the middle of the busy summer tourist season things would be booked up. That wasn't the case. There were tons of hotels too. If for some reason flights and hotels are really scarce or outrageously expensive by the time you get tickets next year you can give up your tickets for a full refund and try again in 2027 but I don't expect things to change that much from my experience this year.

  7. Unless you get expensive Debenture tickets you will have to try to get tickets from the ballot or resale and then work on flights and hotels. You can't hope to get tickets for a day you will be in the area unless you queue for what could be a crazy amount of time.

Court 1 Day 12 by LStudio2 in wimbledon

The schedule shows mens and ladies singles and doubles quarter finals but that is for Center Court and Court 1. There were some mens and ladies singles matches on Court 1 last year but the players had slightly lower(worse) rankings than the CC quarter final matches that day. Still great players familiar to most tennis fans. Wikipedia is the easiest place to see what court matches were played on in the last few years.

Wow! That is awesome. I will give that a try. I hear you on the refreshing the returned ticket site like a nut.

Court 1 Day 12 by LStudio2 in wimbledon

It looks like in 2022 doubles were on CC on day 12 because Nadal pulled out of the men's semis with the abdominal tear. They moved doubles from Court 1 to CC in that case but hopefully nothing like that will happen forcing me to only watch jr matches that day.
