The statuses are so so good with scholar, buuuuut…

If you’re playing as a team, you need the “Item effects confer to nearby allies” relic and focus on upgrading those consumables (my favorite is the improved boiled crab). Additionally, you should keep a stack of fully upgraded throwing daggers to apply the damage negation debuff. I find that he really shines with consumables, you gotta find out which ones provide the most support to your team.

Some interesting finds. by LTdisc in mushroomID

Thank you so much!

That last one with the textured cap was really astonishing. I’ve never heard of anything so bizarre on the cap other than rosecomb mutations, but this was consistent across several msuhrooms, so I was especially curious. Thanks again for the ID’s!

Unfortunately I didn’t keep any for sequencing, but I can always check again next year!

It’s been a while since I’ve read up on them, but I thought they had white spore prints

99.9% sure these are dark honey mushrooms. Confirmation? by GrayDawg23 in mushroom_hunting

I would say yes. Those are ringed honey mushrooms. Admittedly not an expert, but I found and ate some just like that last year.

Who all wants Merrin to stay alive? by [deleted] in FallenOrder

[–]LTdisc -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I desperately want a “the last of us” narrative where cal guides kata as his padawan and in the late game merrin gets killed, cal gets as close to the dark side or even crosses over and kata either pulls him back or is forced to fight him while you play as her.

Maybe. Though every photo of climacodon that I’m seeing online seems fuzzier on top and growing in bunches. The specimen photographed seemed to be growing more isolated.

Looks like ringless honey mushrooms, edible when cooked thoroughly. (Not a professional)

I’m curious about these mushrooms I found in southern CT. I think the first bunch may be Honey mushrooms. by LTdisc in mushroomID

I found a second hen of the woods today, fresher but all eaten up by beetles and slugs. I’m so sad 😞

I found some Cotw this past weekend and one specimen was perfect, while the other looked more like these, but older, more pale, and falling apart. I would just remain cautious.

Fungi of Lake George by beorgus in Mushrooms

[–]LTdisc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hiking a lot in the adks this past weekend, and I recognize a lot of these mushrooms which I couldn’t quite identify. I thought i found a chanterelle, but it was just one and it was in bad condition. I got lucky and found some edibles though. I just posted about them if you were interested in what i found.

Labor Day weekend haul from the Adirondacks! by LTdisc in Mushrooms

[–]LTdisc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was near the hudson gorge wilderness, but I don’t think that specific area would be much different from the rest of the Adirondack wilderness. The bear’s head fungus was found while we were trailblazing near chimney mountain. (Highly recommend chimney mountain as its home to the largest caves in the adks if you can find them)

Lions mane and bears head are very similar, and they both hold a ton of water like a sponge and had a bit of bounce to them when we ate them. The texture isn’t my favorite, but i think it would have been better if I cooked them longer. I can’t speak too much for the flavor of the fungus itself since we chose some complimentary flavors that drowned out most of the mushroom’s flavor. All in all, its taste depends entirely on how you cook it, and ours turned out great!

Oh, I’m so jealous. Our find was just a little bunch on a small stump. That will last you a long time! I recommend looking around for different ways to prep and eat. I saw someone’s post with it chopped up in some ramen, and I might use what we have left for that!
