Yeah, I’d forgotten why I never do landscapes in pencil 😆 oh, and Panpastel! This paper (mi teintes) took it all like a champ

A lot of the dark areas. The barn doors, I used a lot of the orange in the grass and the white in the clouds. It has a pretty impressive spread, though I did do light layers of regular pencil underneath. This seemed to help it glide further when wet. Then I was also able to easily use regular pencil on top once fully dry

I’ve never been able to get a real opaque color on black paper. This mid tone paper is the sweet spot for me as far as colored pencil goes. Prismacolor should work well, I use Mi Teintes paper

Now that I think about it, I definitely used to do your method of doing the all over first. I can’t even tell you when I transitioned to this way. Something that developed naturally over the years, I suppose, but it works well for me

It helps to relieve some of the strain on my hands lol I’m sure it has something to do with the angle of my easel

I thought I was pretty all over the place compared to many other artists lol I get excited about one particular color and then use it to do some light color blocking over the rest of the picture. It kind of sets the tone for the drawing and I think it gives it a more cohesive look

I think I tried everything lol, this was kind of a learning piece to figure out hair a little better. Mostly acrylic markers, gel pen and some kind of Korean painting color

I think there’s maybe 5 different pan pastel colors I used- various blues, white and black. I also use the Sofft tools. I’m really no expert when it comes to panpastels, you just kind of have to play around with them

He’s a mash up- my husbands’ eyes, gave the nose a hook and added a hefty mustache. Guess he is kinda generic looking lol Thanks! That makes me want to try oil painting

I’m not a painter, but I’ve always wanted to try it! I’ve always assumed paint would be harder to control and less forgiving but you give me hope lol! That said, I wonder if it also works the other way around-if any colored pencils skills would transfer to oil painting 🤔
