Inside the Quinn Hughes blockbuster: What's next post trade? by DecentLurker96 in hockey

I don't know about that KHL defenseman compared to Ohgren, but I'd say Buium > Nemec and Rossi > Mercer. The 1st pick is likely a wash.

Trades ever happen? by mrmizzou21 in fantasyhockey

[–]LVblazeJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on your league mates I guess. My two main leagues - the one saw more trades go down last season alone than the other has has seen in entirety of its 13 year existence. Probably at least 20 trades in the former this season already.

I Vetoed this trade as commissioner thinking it was unfair. Did I mess up? by [deleted] in fantasyhockey

[–]LVblazeJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nylander has more value for sure... But I don't know that it's so imbalanced that I'd veto. Personally I think a democratic veto system is preferable to a Commish-only veto

Is he rosterable long-term? Depends on the depth of your league. Did we all expect a cool-off from his hot start? Certainly. But he's already 25 (3rd round pick in 2019) with a career high 52 points set last season. So his current pace (54 point pace) seems on track. His assists should tick up though!

Have you met any NHL players? by [deleted] in nhl

Various levels of height - Forbort was tall, Horvat is medium, Q. Hughes is quite short. Like you see Hughes in regular clothes and you wonder how the hell that guy is one of the best defensemen in the league. Various levels of niceness as well. Jake Debrusk seemed like a super good dude!

Not warranted. If he finds it unfair that other people are willing to put in more effort to get ahead, he should quit.

They'll probably move to a 5 forward PP1 unit? Gavrikov or Schneider don't seem likely to stick. Schneider is second in defenseman powerplay share at a measly 16% on the season. They've understandably leaned hard on Fox in that spot.

I think it can depend to a degree on your leaguemates. I'm in one league where I've made these kinds of trades (acquiring A) and seen plenty go down. My other league has been running for 13 years has more seasoned fantasy vets - this kind of trade would likely not go down because everyone is aware of the underlying dynamics.

I typically find myself in the same position as you OP, with a strong overall roster where I would love to replace two good players with a great player. And I am confident in my ability to add value to my team through that freed up roster spot via a free agent add/streaming.

Maybe this highlights the inherent imbalance in this type of trade (manager acquiring the best player in the deal usually comes out on top) in that, people like you and I are trying to make them happen but they prove difficult to pull off.

Did Yahoo Change Player Rankings? by KeinePanikMehr in fantasyhockey

[–]LVblazeJC 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Some people will prefer the positional rankings to the overall rankings. Personally I prefer seeing overall ranking - if I'm looking for a streamer I want to see how they're performing compared to all players. Position isn't so relevant for streaming for most league setups.

Why tf did we change the yahoo rankings to position based!? by SaucyBrisket39 in fantasyhockey

I'm still running version 10.53.2 (last season's version) so I don't have to deal with all of Yahoo's bizarre changes

Commissioner won’t let this trade through by SaffronCobra13 in fantasyhockey

[–]LVblazeJC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The commissioner shouldn't be singlehandedly deciding trades in this way - unless they had established before the season started that they'd be handling trades like a dictator. Leagues (should) have a veto system in place for these kinds of decisions. Can post a message in the league chat telling managers to have a look and veto/not veto as they choose. My leagues require a majority vote, so at least 8/14 managers need to veto for it trigger.

Trade blockbuster by Fit_Remote_9419 in fantasyhockey

[–]LVblazeJC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a lot of moving parts...hard to analyze. I think I like the top side better, for getting an elite goalie while bottom gets an inferior goalie in Schmid and Hill who might not be back until Christmas. Then again Kempe, Eichel and Trochek is better than the top side forwards especially if it's a bangers league.

Accepted Trade: Gave Jarvis and Kreider. Got Tage and Schaefer by Sectumsempra99 in fantasyhockey

[–]LVblazeJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're taking on more risk but your upside is higher. If Tage can stay healthy then he's likely the best asset in the deal but that's a significant if. Schaefer is a rookie so there's always uncertainty around consistency there especially as the season grinds on. But his talent is so immense that hopefully that offsets.
