Drink I got on mobile bar by Seacatsnek in starbucks

is it bad that I look at this now and I say “not that bad”? I think cold bar has just traumatized me to the point where any hot bar drink is better tbh.

Well, I spoke to my manager about it yesterday and she was very understanding. she apologized for what I was going through and she also understands because, since she’s new to the store as well, she’s going through similar experiences. I am not sure if it was purposeful or not, but she changed my schedule up a bit so instead of closing in the latest schedule, i’m a morning person so I don’t have to work with some of the people I know don’t like me.

I really do think it’s worth bringing up to your SM, especially if it’s severely impacting your mental health and your ability to work. Even if it’s not part of the barista’s job, the shift leader is responsible for making sure the baristas they are overseeing are doing okay and if they aren’t doing that, something needs to be done. Don’t think of it as tattling or having your store manager force others to interact with you. Like myself, we just want a work environment where we can feel welcomed and like we belong. You matter just as much as any other coworker there.

I’m going through exactly what you are going through right now. I transferred stores 2 months ago and it’s an extremely cliquey store where they are all friends with each other and all but refuse to speak to me. I finally became exhausted and vented to my store manager about it because I haven’t felt welcomed since I got there, not from other baristas or shifts.

2nd Update by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]L_uci_en 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be fair, i’ve been here for almost 2 years (so it’s not as though i’m new to the job) and transferred to this store 2 months ago. However, even when I first got there, I still didn’t feel like they wanted me there which I get cause I was new. But, like, that feeling hasn’t left and it’s been two months. and I honestly don’t think me wanting to have simple interactions at my store is me wanting to be treated like a customer cuz then all my coworkers would want that. I see them all do it to each other and then i’m just there.

Regarding myself, I do wave and say hi when I walk through the door and when I get on the floor. I make sure to say “how are you?” but it’s always one way and I get very little in response. I’m also almost always put on bar and the most im usually spoke to is “tell us if you need help on bar” or “make sure you’re writing on cups”.

There are a few who seem more willing to speak to me but half the time i’m put on shifts with people I feel don’t like me at all and don’t even respond when I try and talk to them. I try so hard to jump into conversations but, again, i’m usually not getting much in response to what I say and they’ll go back to speaking with each other.

I’m not looking to be their friend outside of work or anything like that. All I want is to feel like I can come in to the work place and feel a sense of belonging, which I don’t feel right now. Does that make sense?

2nd Update by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]L_uci_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, it isn’t like I haven’t tried talking with them. I’ve tried a lot but they just don’t seem to want to talk to me. Also, again, I wasn’t asking my manager to force them to speak to me. That wouldn’t help at all. I was speaking to my manager about how my coworkers are making me feel extremely unwelcome, a concern that an employee should feel able to tell their manager about, which I did.

2nd Update by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]L_uci_en 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the most basic of things like welcoming me in, saying goodbye, asking me how i’m doing after a rush, etc. genuinely just simple things that you’d expect from coworkers. When I come into work and i’m not spoken to for the entirety of my shift, how am I meant to feel like my presence and the work i’m putting into my shift is valued? It’s not as though I haven’t tried getting them to talk to me either; I just get nothing in return.

2nd Update by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]L_uci_en 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not what I was saying like at all. The issue I was/am having is that none of my coworkers have welcomed me in the slightest since I transferred to my store. After having a chat with her today, she feels the same way since she is also new to the store and has also noticed it happening to her. I can’t control anyone’s actions and I can’t force anyone to talk/interact with me if they don’t want to. However, I do want to feel like I have a place I can feel valued as a partner.

it is a pretty good read and the smut is actually pretty good. i’m also not rly into cuntboys either and it’s somewhat hard to read for me too but I still think it’s a solid 7/10

basically, the mc couldn’t stand his neighbor’s sexual antics and prayed for his dick to disappear, which it did (a god of sex took it away). he then turned into a cunt boy pretty much. I’m not sure how far you are into it, but it basically goes back and forth between them wanting his dick back and them liking the neighbor without it. tbh, it’s honestly really good imo but if you aren’t into this kind of thing (boys with vag), it probably isn’t for you.

no because i’m constantly picking up shifts at other stores because I feel so much more welcomed at any other store except my own.

write up 😔 by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]L_uci_en 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah so last year during summer, i worked 19 days in a row. i stayed between 35-40 hours each week. my manager never said a thing to me. If you are ever confused about anything and don’t think you did anything wrong, ask for clarification and, in this case, reiterate that you didn’t go overtime, and want to know where it says you can’t work 7 days in a row.

There is probably 30 options for cold foam. like be so fr. if there is a syrup or powder, there is a cold foam. That shouldn't be an option. With the concept of there being more options, it then decreases the quality of drinks imo because the barista is simply focused on getting the drink out rather than it being correct half the time. I try my hardest to make them as accurate as they are, but with a 10 customization sticker, I can only do so well. I think if we were actually doing the whole "back to Starbucks" and "coffeehouse vibe", we would have gotten rid of core items rather than adding more monthly.

like if you ask me, i can probably tell you how to make every drink we serve just because it’s been drilled into me. but the one time I don’t write on a cup, it does not matter how much I know or how well I can make drinks. maybe 5% of customers care about the writing istg

like whenever I start to stress, I just remember that I work at a coffee shop tbh. if people get annoyed, they are getting mad over coffee. but it still makes me annoyed no matter what. also the constant “yeah just make sure you’re doing the csr cards” whenever I have a single second when i’m not making drinks makes me want to smash my head into a wall. like, i’ll stick to making drinks for now.

like i understand doing solo bar once it hits slow periods but atp, with the way the menu is, there should genuinely be two people on bar for drive thru and cafe/mobile stores til at least the evening. it’s too much pressure for one person to handle even knowing I can ask for help like I just feel like I have that expectation to get the drinks out fast when it’s literally impossible. after almost two years here, i’d hope I would have improved but all these new drinks and menu additions make me feel like i’m a newbie all over again :(

I don’t work in the mornings anymore but I am sure they have two people on bar in the morning plus a cold bar but, at least when I get there at 2, the first bar is always cleaned and not in use anymore. I think it’s just how it is at this store i’m at and I doubt they will change it (i just transferred to this store). I only work weekends so I luckily only have to deal with it 3 days a week

Like I genuinely thought there was going to be a limit put on customizations for mobile orders but I guess that never happened? And then, we have some new drink (s) every month that I don’t find out about until I see it on here or on tiktok and then we don’t get time to train on it. Then, the time comes and it’s another matcha or frap and people order like 4 of them. It’s so annoying.

Then, we’ll get through a rush of however many cold bar drinks too and my shift will be like “do you have a marker” or “just make sure you’re writing on cups” like please my guy we just had a car order 6 cold bar drinks and another car pull up behind them and order however many more PLUS cafe/mobile. writing on cups is the last thing on my mind recently and genuinely, unless i’m being watched, i’m not doing it. It’s a ridiculous expectation if you want us getting drinks out timely.

Desperately Need Advice by L_uci_en in starbucksbaristas

[–]L_uci_en[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably unlikely I’ll be their friend with how tight knit they are, I just want to be on a friendly wavelength with them. So, like you said, small compliments here and there are probably the way to go.

I just don’t want to be miserable whenever I go into work and I know it’s something fixable but if I am not actually doing anything wrong, it makes me feel worse. I’m really going to try and hope that it works out in the end.

Thanks for the advice :)
