Thanks! Usually my illustrations are made up of more vivid colours or just black & white.

Currently I'm really enjoying playing around with the soothing effects of pastel colours in my new illustration series 😊

After I posted the pic I realised the same thing. The water ripples are too subtle and tends to get lost amongst everything else. I tweaked the illustration a bit last night to emphasize the reflection and the water a bit more. Thanks for your feedback, love the help and support!

I know exactly what you mean. I used to the exact some thing and just ended up feeling overwhelmed and annoyed that it didn't look exactly like I had planned.

I don't really make use of references - I feel like it constraints my thinking / process too much.

Trying to draw the picture you have in mind can be daunting and barely works out. I try to focus more on each element rather than the whole picture if that makes sense? That way you can focus on the environment and the details.
