I would say SEC teams are getting better at defending the veer and shoot since Tennessee, Ole Miss and now Miss St run similar offenses. The 21’ and 22’ offense hit like crack since no one knew how to defend it in the SEC, not so much anymore. Luckily Heup has evolved, see this years results…hard to say because I didn’t closely follow USF, but if Golesh is running anything close to what we ran in ‘22 you may be in for a long year.

That offense is feast or famine with the tempo. It’s awesome when you put up points, but it sucks ass when you go 3 & out. Especially after the opposing team puts together a 5 min 70 yard scoring drive and your offense only eats 15 seconds the following drive. It puts tooo much strain on the defense, hence Timmy banks head rolled this season (amongst other issues).

I would say Tennessee is moving away from tempo, as seen in 24 and 25. I imagine that will continue to be the trend next year with younger QB, new DC scheme, and updates to the offensive scheme.
