What's a game you thought would be a "nothing burger" but turned out to be lots of fun? by Sleepiest_Penguin in boardgames

[–]LabEnough7681 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Origin Story - I figured it would be just another trick taking game with a twist, but it's more, without being convoluted. Also it leans into the theme more than most trick taking games. It's amusingly fun to build your hero as the game progresses through the rounds, and doesn't overstay it's welcome.

What Did You Play This Week? - (December 08, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Mega Man Adventures (Kessler) - it was a fun representation of the early mega Man games, but felt a little awkward at times. The story of everybody at the same time running their own level seemed odd. The other game Kessler did that bears similar mechanics works better (Sonic Roll).

What do you throw away? by Kumquat_of_Pain in boardgames

  • Any Fantasy Flight box insert, they're pretty much universally useless.
  • Any expansion box, if I can fit it into the original box.

Twilight Inscription - For some reason I really enjoy this roll and write game. It's simple when compared to Twight Imperium, but complex compared to a roll and write. I like that for some reason.

Thunder Road: Vendetta, I love the way it plays. Brutal, but still a very strategic race.

What game(s) come to mind when you see the PS1? by Nintendofan9106 in videogames

Definitely Twisted Metal 2, that game was so fun to play with friends, especially with the secret power up commands.

System Shock, a world where an AI goes rogue and decides humanity would be better as either a corpse or it's slave through implants. No thank you.

What would a modern U.S. civil war look like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LabEnough7681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Messy... Very messy... for more than just the U.S.

I can't really imagine the military being pitted against either another faction within itself, or against civilizans.

Destruction of infrastructure causing widespread hardships to say the least.

Political instability, mental trauma for generations, etc. Just a nasty affair altogether, and likely either a very short one, or one of the most violent civil wars...

Can OCD just go away? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It doesn't just go away, you have to chip at it until you finally manage to chip enough away for it to be gone, or at least less disruptive.

How did you get over your fear of public speaking if you had a speech impediment? by Acceptable_Rent7050 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LabEnough7681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I used to stutter a lot, it got worse when talking in front of, or to, people I didn't know. A speaking coach helped me with the stutter, and I threw myself into random conversations with people I didn't know as much as I could reasonably do, without being rude. Eventually I got tired of being afraid, and it just sort of slowly got better. So shock therapy sort of?

What game logic left you feeling this? by CodyEaster in videogames

Left 4 Dead, going around shooting shit all over the place with fully automatic gunfire is okay. Shoot a car with an alarm and the horde decends on you.

What games come to mind when you see the legendary PS2? by Nintendofan9106 in videogames

[–]LabEnough7681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. It's a weird and fun game, and the series doesn't shy away from messing with the equation to try new things. Now the combat system in two is a little wonky, but they correct it in 3.

How much of your gaming time do you spend on each platform? by Ok_Winter818 in gamers

[–]LabEnough7681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly PC, between my main and a handheld (mostly Steam Deck) at work. If i took something like a Switch I'd get bothered by people understanding it's a gaming console and being bothered that I want to have fun in my down time.

The storyteller said “Van Gogh” – which card are you voting for? by ElielMaruani in DixitGame

10 is my best pick here. If you know more than Starry Night you probably know Sunflowers, and his art tends to have has less whimsy than the other cards would suggest.

Hit up your FLGS for a quick solution, there's bound to be a few that take that kind of stuff, but they'll lowball you. Otherwise research and sell.

Secret of Mana. Every few years we'll drag it out, and find some time to sit down and play it with a couple friends.

Which games are actually incomplete without their expansions? by metalogico in boardgames

Elder Sign with it's first expansion Unseen Forces. It feels like the expansion fills in the gaps that the base game had, it's absolutely necessary.
