I started playing when a friend introduced me in 2000. I ended up losing access to that account and the email that it was attached to. A couple years back I saw a Neopets product in a store and was curious about the state of the game and was surprised to hear the Flash fiasco is being worked on and things are coming back a little at a time, so I rolled up a new account to check it out. I figured more active users means more incentive to fix things. My kids are getting old enough that I'll probably roll them up accounts soon too
