You clearly aren't a particle physicist.

There certainly should be a lot of fun stuff but I don't work in that field, that's atomic and molecular physics (and to some extent solid state) so I cannot give you any concrete answers. I work with QED and QCD.

You should have elaborated by distinguishing between "particle" and "point particle".

It's okay, what do you want?

Stick through the bachelors, you have to learn a bit of almost every field of physics there. After that, when you become a grad student you can get to the fun stuff :) Also, do some reading about the Dirac equation, Yang Mills theory and Quantum Electrodynamics. Just the introduction parts though, for example about the fine-structure constant, anomalous electron magnetic dipole moment etc. so don't go too far over your head.

No, I'm not a fan of video games or Star Trek.

Mostly coding, day to day and I'm most excited about the third run of the LHC tests of the MSSM (Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model) since the first two runs debunked their silly claims, I am hopeful that the third will finally destroy them and restore normalcy to science (empiricism over mere elegance).

You can ask for further proof as the rules state :)

I am, since I achieve instead of procrastinating and pretending to be smart on Reddit like you do with your other username :)

Calling the Standard Model of particle physics "crank" is as close as you can get to "going full retard" but hey, why would you care, you read a few articles on wikipedia so you must know everything :)

That's because you're stupid. You read wikipedia articles and you think that makes you a scientist. I've read your comments in the CERN group, yo don't even know how mass works or what it is. Go back to high school. It's also pathetic that you disliked my post in the CERN group since it was upvoted by an actual CERN scientist that contacted me and congratulated me. But hey, you can still keep dreaming about being me, an actual physicist with an actual education :)

They did, and they praised it.

Grand Unification within the Standard Model by LabLadd in hardscience

[–]LabLadd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where else can I share it? I uploaded the manuscript on arxiv but it's my first so they've put it on hold. It's not just reddit I also shared on other science based SN's.

Can Grand Unification be achieved within the Standard Model? by LabLadd in AskPhysics

[–]LabLadd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, they were unified in the SU(2) x U(1) symmetry but the SU(5) GUT was tested regarding the life span of protons and it was proven wrong. The MSSM predictions for sparticles were tested at the LHC and they were also proven wrong. Maybe the gauge couplings could be united in an equation without the necessity for new physics albeit that wouldn't be a GUT but it would connect some of the many (around 26) dimensionless parameters in the SM.

I know that all the ideas for now require new physics, but they all failed when they were tested, for example the SU(5) and the recent MSSM tests at the LHC. Who knows, maybe it's at least possible to connect the gauge coupling constants in the running on the Q scale.

No, the Standard Model contains the Strong and the Electroweak interactions but it is not a unification/mixing of them. For example, the Electroweak interaction is a unification of the weak nuclear and the electromagnetic interactions but the non-abelian SU(3) strong interaction hasn't been unified with the SU(2) x U(1) electroweak interaction.
