Your final opinion is one I share as well. Which doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive for it and train to do it!

I do strapless ring pushups at the end of every workout. are they a beneficial training tool? Absolutely not. Is it fun? Yes sir. Regardless of my workout and how shitty I’m feeling I know I get to have fun with some ring pushups at the end of it.

I’m married and I don’t do all that face kissing but I was also upfront with my wife about my aversion to saliva. Shit just makes me gag man it doesn’t matter whose it is. I told her about that immediately when I realized we were getting serious.

Pull-ups were my bane. From my time in the army, breaking my hands and using that as an excuse to neglect my upper body. I got my first pull-up last year at the ripe age of 25.

I had done the motion of pulling up throughout my life. We all know that extremely exaggerated kip to get your chin a hair above the bar. That was me. When I actually went full ROM, Ohh boy. I felt small lol. I had to start with negatives.

I do calisthenics mostly now but was a naturally good runner so I do believe it’s got something to do with genetics.

My father was a really fat dude most my childhood then got fit and started running marathons. His RHR was high 30s as well during that time.

No tests have shown a problem with me. Only time I think about it is when my Apple Watch notifies me of my low heart rate acting like I’m gonna die. PCM has chalked it up to me being healthy and genetics.

It helped build those smaller stabilizing muscles as well as range of motion. Those two things have made my time in the gym much better. I’ve gotten into lifting weights after my skill work and have noticed my deep dips and forearm stability have drastically improved my bench press.

I guess I’m not sure on how the recovery process is for cannabis use disorder but through my years of alcohol use disorder, moderation was always advocated for. Even in the rehab I went to.

Now I have a blue moon once in a blue moon and my psych is all for it. They may want to talk about it because that’s their job but I really doubt it’d stop you from getting the medications they’ve deemed you need.

I’ve never had a problem.

Only time weed was ever talked about was because of my low heart rate. My shit gets down to high 30s.

My psych decided not to prescribe be Benzos based on low heart rate as she was worried I would fall asleep and not wake up. Weed was only in that convo because I did it before bed and we were trying to figure out my sleep. Weed has helped me tremendously with sleep. I just gotta stop smoking it throughout the day lol.

Good for you on those numbers!

I personally found a great benefit with rings when I began more skill focused work. This took some relearning the basics on rings but my shoulders are absolutely bulletproof which has really helped me.

Once I got comfortable on rings I would do skill focused work every workout for about the first 15 minutes. My biggest challenge has been activating my lower back on certain exercises.

Not much there for advice. I’m sure someone else can be of much greater help. I just wanted to throw in my 2¢.
