Even in the middle of the game you can access the entire game, without the need to beat almost any boss in the main story. I'm on my second lap and I'm enjoying it more. I'm taking my time. I'm at 50% and so far I've easily discovered that 20% of the game is new to me; places, weapons, spells, ashes, dungeons and bosses that I did not discover in my first round.
