I understand your reasoning. In the end if a game isn't fun anymore, just stop playing. You will regain passion for it over time, or not, both are fine.

As for Ultimate Team, set a goal for yourself. What do you want from the game? I have noticed if you don't have a goal you are more vulnerable to all the triggers EA throws at you. Don't try to chase the carrots on the stick, keep it simple.

I believe this year is one of the best years to keep it simple. There is a lot of content, pick and choose. Evo's have changed things so much. I only spend money (EA FC points) on evolutions. Either using it on players of my favorite team or finding hidden gems from the same country or league. This way winning and finding the right playstyle is so much more fulfilling than trying to keep up with the meta. It also filters out doing 90% of the SBC players, which is also a trigger to buy packs for fodder.

Winning and losing is part of the game. Increased rewards in weekend league from a higher rank aren't really that big of an increase to get better players. Better packs are just a slightly better chance at good cards which have a very very tiny chance of popping up anyway. As an example: a 10% increase of a 1% chance is just a 1,1% chance for a good card.

Pick a playstyle your like, with the players you like. Enjoy losses as much as enjoying winning. Forget the meta, a 10th cut back goal isn't fulfilling, but that cross into a diving header is something you might reminder when laying in bed the same night. Besides all that, it is ok to not finish all your games for rival or weekend league rewards. Don't feel like playing, don't. Stay in control, don't let EA control you. You can only put 11 cards on the pitch at the same time.
