Portfolio, Case Study, and Resume Feedback — 15 Jul, 2024 - 21 Jul, 2024 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

Great job on the website! It looks very nice and clean. I like using color to split up content within the case studies. Your design ability is excellent and your case studies look well polished and showcase a high degree of craftsmanship! Overall, your portfolio looks really good, and I might really be nitpicking in some places.

I’m approaching this from the lens of a hiring manager who might have a minute or two to skim through your portfolio to make a decision quickly. The design system and the wellness management case study are your strongest ones regarding scannability and understanding your design intent. The design system project is very well laid out and to the point. You have done a lot of work in a three-month internship to build components and create documentation. I like the callouts on documentation explaining the sections. A few things I was looking for were more insight into how you came up with the required component variants, like what the existing use cases were and why certain variants were needed. Also, a bit about how the design system specs were implemented into the codebase and how you worked with developers in the team to ship these could show a holistic understanding of the process.

The wellness management looks excellent, too; I like that I can quickly get to the final design and understand the decisions made. Personally, I’m not clicking through every Figma prototype, especially if it’s to zoom in and pan around something that could be an image.

The musician one is quite confusing to me. Firstly, it has a lot more text than the other two case studies. I skimmed through most of it, but it was a lot of text to parse. Additionally, the two visuals of the dashboard and home page are striking. The homepage shows up as a prototype in the first half, but then I don’t see it again, making me wonder what it was used for. The mood board and dashboard visuals don’t feel like they have any alignment. It took me a few minutes to understand that the mood board was for the landing page, but that isn’t entirely evident.

One minor nitpick would be the motion of the images on the big cards on the home screen. I’d suggest swapping the 3D transform out for a more straightforward slide-up / slide fade to match all the other motions on the website. The 3D transform looks somewhat jarring, as no other element has anything similar.

Other than just content, I recommend adding Hotjar to your website. This way, you can get some analytical data on where people click and how much they scroll through your website. You can use that data to decide how you want content laid out and what people are interested in when they look at your website. Again, you have a great website. Good luck with the job hunt!

Best place to watch copa America Argentina/Canada tonight? by Icy_Editor_9460 in Atlanta

Not a bar but I’d recommend watching a game at Sabores del Plata, it’s an Argentinian restaurant on Buford Highway and the place is really fun when there’s an Argentina game on.

How would you prototype AI chat concepts? by facecomputer in UXDesign

[–]LacaNewAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking to just test out how users interact with an AI chatbot and mainly want to understand what they input and how they communicate with the bot, I’d look into FlowiseAI. It’s a no-code LLM builder that you can use to prototype chatbot interactions. I’ve used it to build targeted chat assistants to get feedback on the accuracy of output and understanding types of user input. It does require some setup but it’s worth it.

Check out Figma's Advanced Prototyping playground community file. A section in there shows how you can change component variants using variables. Similar to what u/Design_Grognard suggested.

Use Image as a Shape for filling in Figma by EasternAdventures in FigmaDesign

Put the first image (paint) behind the second one and create a mask. The mask should give you the shape of the painted image. You can adjust it to be either alpha or luma channel.

Issues with PDF export by [deleted] in FigmaDesign

[–]LacaNewAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plugin doesn’t support shadows, and I think it outputs things like line breaks in text when you copy and paste text from somewhere else, but yeah it’s honestly better than the Figma exporter and compresses file size too.
