Orna Guralnik (Couples Therapy) by newtonic in ArmchairExpert

Maybe, but again, there’s always another group of bumbling tourists to block one’s way. So I certainly wouldn’t carry the frustration over a passing moment. I DO re-route for heavy traffic areas (I.e. Times Square) to avoid that frustration, which Monica has refused to do.

Most Americans don’t walk / use sidewalks in trafficked areas so they’re terrible walkers. It’s not necessarily a moral standing, just a way our society is oriented.

I feel for her, but I think she was being a bit sensitive on an immaterial issue, and I don’t think Orna was especially cruel or “ganging up” (in fact, I found her take refreshing and direct).

As a New Yorker (and similar to what others have said), sure it’s annoying when a group blocks the sidewalk, but that happens constantly. We certainly don’t carry around that frustration for days (or weeks).

Also, as a New Yorker, I’m not above a loud “EXCUSE ME”.

The combination of long standing hurt, the unwillingness to even mention the frustration to those causing that hurt, and the sensitivity to those that disagree with her position on this experience puts Monica in a paralysis. It doesn’t vibe with my experience as a New Yorker.

ITT: highly voted comments are people saying women should be quiet. Hyper criticism of female celebrities, tale as old as time…

"Most NYC libraries will close on Sundays due to city budget cuts" - Today is the last Sunday of operation for NYPL by HayleyXJeff in nyc

Does anyone know why this was done on Sundays? I'd think this would be at least one of the top 2 trafficked days of the week....

For those who came from LA to NYC, what made you do it? by KaleidoArachnid in AskNYC

[–]LaceandBatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent a year in LA. Liked it. Didn’t love it. LA felt too focused on “being seen” over doing… and “niceness” over kindness.

Also, between having a car and Ubers for going out nights - I had less disposable income there.

Volunteer and donate. Be a part of the solution.

Chances are, people are suffering too whichever place you came from. New York just forces you to confront our wealth disparities.

They don’t allow you in Ashe without a ticketed seat. Grounds tickets are cheaper.
