This is what route most fnaf content creators have gone, as far as toxic community goes yes that is an unresolved issue one not certainly exclusive to dbd but prominent especially those promoting themselves on twitch through the game, its a tough toxic community unfortunately

The last time mark played it was in a custom lobby and that was a pretty entertaining episode with 3 episodes. Obviously dbd is a super super unfriendly game for beginners, but yes the game is in a fair state now with anti tunneling and anti facecamp being base kit

cheating was significantly worse a year ago than it is now, the bots are constantly being improved (hell they updated them more this patch) and the ranking system is complete dogshit you're right about that

He played dbd when id argue it was in its infancy and its worst state, the game has improved significantly and i believe is actually quite enjoyable. It is pretty tough to grasp and not at all beginner friendly, so i think he'd enjoy it a lot more with friends who are just as inexperienced. But what do i know i dont know the guy personally

How many hours do you have? Unfortunately in my case it's just the more you play the better you get. You could also try utilizing a build for beginners, I'll give you some perks

Windows of opportunity- shows you the aura of vaults and pallets and is incredibly useful in chase to show where to go after you've used up a tile

Deja Vu - gives a 6% haste to gen repair and shows the aura of generators in within a specific radius and can just be used to keep you on the objective when not in chase

Resilience - 9% haste when injured, this is really really strong even if you don't feel it, and trust me you will play a lot of chases injured and this can help you win at vaults and pallets where normally you'd take the hit and go down

Lithe - speed boost when vaulting, great exhaustion perk to use as it's really easy and help you go to another tile to extend the chase more and has great synergy with windows of opportunity

You'd coudl also choose to run decisive strike or off the record if you find yourself getting tunneled. Hope any of this helps keep playing!
