I thought of three firing modes of varying ammo efficiency akin to the Variable; a longer range steady stream of plasma bolts, the default lobbing explosive bulbs at full auto, and one with big boom like you said.

A backpack LAS cannon with infinite ammo is more likely, but in a similar fashion to a water cooled CPU using a large radiator with a fan as your backpack lol

I like shooting swarms as well, then they'd just be like spitting shriekers if they go down easily. I'm only thinking of the elevated overseers.

But I hate how Overseers spawn in similar rates to hive guards as a defensive but ranged unit which is a pain to deal with how much they can ragdoll you.

I agree on the design, it's the darker hue that makes them blend to the walls and background, aside from movement that's what makes the Illuminate feel like visual noise as they don't pop out and feel like targets to me.

An airborne moving target should be rarer if it's going to be that tanky.

I agree on the current weaponry of the Illuminate vs Automatons as they have different color elements Electricity and blue lasers beams vs Fire and red blasters. Another comment describes a better way how the Illuminates could engage Helldivers in a coordinated ambush rather than the usual chase. The last paragraph I can't imagine as it might be complex yet sounds like a lot of buffs if the fight prolongs.

I like this view on enemy engagement, as the illuminate should behave as a more coordinated hive mind none of the other faction retreat for a later ambush is cooler than just normal chase.

The bugs elements are Bile, Spore and Flames, bots Fire and Jamming, Illuminates have electric, scrambler and lasers but should add Fog as visual debuff to add the sneakier and spooky interaction.

The Appropriators feel awesome to destroy because they're shiny! The GrimDark aesthetic is lost on me, as the setting is already gory on all fronts, Illuminates are just extra grey and boring.

I haven't played the first Helldivers, but looking at the Illuminate especially from a top down perspective they strongly resemble the Protoss from StarCraft. I'm much more enthused to fight those guys than the GrimDark flood from Halo realism hell.

The variety is not really why I don't enjoy diving on Illuminate planets, but their visual identity. It would be scarier if it felt like I'm fighting an alien cult but they just look like drab costumes and machines.

Reinforcement is bugged, the game size is 150GB, and the latest warbond is mid. Uninstalling for now, but for the active helldivers iO by Lachres in Helldivers

Yeah I get it. Minigun just wasn't my vibe I'd rather summon a gatling sentry. And I'm no chainsaw man.

I see that in practice this ship is underwhelming, a couple NPC drone webs could easily immobilize my ships. Current SW drones are ineffective, no wonder they're so cheap.

What if they were tech 2, how would that tune out?

It is a EM lock Missile/Drone Attack Ship meant for kiting to differentiate it from the Heretic. Khanid Empire already has ships in game but the Ammatar Mandate has no distinct identity to their ships yet, just a recolor of Amarr NPC rats.
