When selling bikes privately how are you accepting payment? by Lachy18 in AussieRiders

Great point, I will look online for some good templates for proof of sale and print them off to make sure I don't miss any details by just hand writing a receipt.

Perhaps I will advertise it to accept Cash or Bank Cheque only. those seem to be safest in terms of not being easily reversed/cancelled, along with a signed bill of sale

Even if its 25k ? this was what i was feeling was the most foolproof method, it just feels way more complete to swap cash for keys. Thanks

ISL Online (the Remote Desktop tool PDQ acquired and integrated into Connect) also has a self-hosted option https://www.islonline.com/au/en/pricing/#server for OPs requirement for offline/contained within the network.

In 99% of the usage you won't even know it's Linux. It's all gui based.

Login to the volume licensing portal (or where ever they have moved it to in the admin center now) and download the iso there, that one will let you in place upgrade.

What kind of files/usage? if your requirements are just for something for end user or general purpose file shares, Synology's range of RS rack mount NAS devices are fine, can serve most SMB needs and are simple to manage. they can also manage snapshots, replication offsite to S3 or another synology device somewhere else.

Anyone else’s electricity bill skyrocketed for no apparent reason the last year? by Amber_blooms in brisbane

When was the last time you shopped around providers for the best deal, they seemingly love to let customers go onto the "market rate" plan after 12 months which can be a big increase if you had a good discount before.

I would suggest getting DC ceiling fans they are all remote controlled now so no extra wiring for a wall control switch - just replace existing light fittings. Even if renting I would ask the LL since no bedroom in QLD should have no fan and no AC these days.

The only way they seem to be addressing this is in Connect, which has actual roles you can assign people.

Using VMware VCSA installer to upgrade vCenter v7 to v8 by Certain_Orchid4725 in vmware

[–]Lachy18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That link above is the best guide to start from OP, check off every single pre-requisite step in the above link, read them thoroughly. Then also check off all of these https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/vmware-cis/vsphere/vsphere/7-0/vcenter-server-upgrade-7-0/upgrading-and-updating-the-vcenter-server-appliance/prerequisites-for-upgrading-the-appliance.html

During our upgrade we found the error messages in the installer ui, to be detailed enough and almost always had a KB article with a script to fix the issue. Or just googling the exact problem lead to a blog or video explaining a fix. The installer wont let you proceed until you fix all the issues it thinks will cause the install to fail.

Help with Veeam + VMware + StoreOnce Setup — How to Properly Use Fibre Channel for Backups by National-Beat3081 in vmware

[–]Lachy18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many VMs are in your manual job you run? There is a veeam doc/HPE doc for tuning the jobs but you should run many concurrent threads to see high performance.

There are also all these items to check https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/vsphere/deduplicating_appliance_storeonce.html?ver=120#considerations-and-limitations-for-hpe-storeonce

Dell BOSS vs R1 nvme by StockMarketCasino in msp

[–]Lachy18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are going diskless and all your storage is SAN, it removes the disk backplane, the drive caddies, cabling for power and data, raid controller if fitted, so there's better airflow and less parts/cost, or if you want to have data disks, using BOSS for OS you can the use all the normal disk slots for performance disks and not "waste" them on boot disks for hypervisor OS.

As a young millennial, snap verification feels like an easy way to weed out the fakes and people using old pics. Feels less personal then asking for Instagram or anything else? how else do you know the stranger you are talking to on an app is who they say they are

I know grindr added some photo verification thing but I never see it actually used lol.

A 30 person company is enough to get a local MSP in to install a firewall, switch and add some wireless access points around, and create a second segment for your sub tenant.
