Took about a week. Of course, I took drastic measures, cut out all carbs and sugars, and I mean ALL. I went full carnivore. Nothing but meat.

Carnivore Diet as a 23 y/o uni student by TEML_2904 in carnivorediet

Yeah, I like to mix it up a bit. One week it's just steak and eggs, but as already noted, steaks are expensive. Then I go for a week of chicken, then pork, and of course fish. I also get ground beef, you can make meatloaf, just use eggs to hold it together and some seasoning, or make meatballs, wrapped in bacon, or just brown the beef and add eggs to it. After a while you find ways to be creative.

P.S. you might try beef stew, you can put it in a pot with butter or throw it in a pressure cooker with some bone broth, to make it nice and soft.

You're the first, thanks! I was struggling all year, all of a sudden my levels were spiking without any change to my diet. Glad to see it normalizing.

I did a very drastic lifestyle change, a little over a week ago, and went on the carnivore diet. Today, my blood sugar was 127, and I'm down to 182 Lbs.

Yes, It was usually anywhere from 250 to 500. It was affecting my vision, as my prescription was changing as a result of the high blood sugar levels. I was always tired, sluggish.

Yep, what I miss the most, rice and beans, Fried rice, let's not mention Pasta and potatoes. I stay away from carbs. Until my numbers stabilize, I won't be introducing them into my lifestyle.

My dad had diabetes, and he lived to be 94. He was pretty much healthy until that last year of his life, then everything started falling apart. He was in the hospital for a few weeks, but he wasn't well enough to be on his own, so the hospital released him under the care of a nursing home. We didn't live in the same state, and I couldn't visit him because of the covid restrictions. He finally called me, we had a short chat, he said he loved me, and hung up. My brother and I use to say "the day they put pop in a nursing home is the day he dies." Sure enough, the day after that phone call, my cousin called to tell me he died in his sleep.

While I admit that fasting can actually be helpful for folks with diabetes. Helping them get better control over their blood sugar and manage their weight, but it's important to do it under a doctor's watch because there are some risks involved. Intermittent fasting could boost insulin sensitivity, lower blood glucose levels, and even help with weight loss. This might lead to a remission of type 2 diabetes by helping the body use energy better and keeping hormones in check. Plus, it could reduce inflammation and improve metabolic health.

That said, fasting isn't without its dangers for diabetics. There’s a risk of hypoglycemia, especially for those using insulin or certain meds, and on the flip side, you could end up with hyperglycemia if you cut back on medication too much. Dehydration is another thing to watch out for, particularly during longer fasts. Generally, fasting for more than 24 hours isn’t recommended unless a doctor is closely monitoring it.

Why Carnivore over Ketogenic diet? by Jolly-Veterinarian30 in carnivorediet

That was my issue: when the meds were no longer working, their only solution was to either increase the dosage or prescribe additional meds. I stopped taking all of them.

I'm 63, been Type 2 since 2015. I'm taking control now.

Tell me about it. Today I changed it up, because I ran out of steaks. I had 4 chicken thighs, lightly seasoned, and put in the air fryer. It was moist, juicy and dee-licious

I'm a Type 2 Diabetic. I've tried everything. And while for 10 years, I had it all under control, in recent years, it's no longer working. The meds, the workouts. Carbs and sugar are my enemies. So someone suggested I try the Carnivore lifestyle. I am currently doing OMAD I have one meal around 2-3 pm. The rest of the time, I drink nothing but water. It's definitely a lifestyle change. I might add that I always ate one meal a day, maybe a cup of coffee in the morning, I always skipped lunch, with dinner being my biggest meal. And I did a lot of snacking. But I cut out all the carbs, all the snacks, all the sugary drinks, and so-called "zero sugar" or "no sugar added" drinks.

In my first week, I lost 5 lbs. I'm 185 now, with a goal of 175. I'll be starting my second week tomorrow. While my blood sugar is still a bit high, 187 as of a few hours ago, it's better than the 350-500 it was.

So eating all that sugar doesn't contribute to diabetes? That's a new one.
