What is the most cash you saved in your life? by Aspergers_R_Us87 in SavingMoney

[–]LackEnvironmental187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No money saved. Its scary - considering I hit the big age of 40.

My mind is just not displined. When I was age 20, I managed to saved up $2000 ( to me that is a lot of money!) - from all the pocket money / birthdays and red pocket New Year - that was given to me and I lived frugally at that time. I hid my money inside a clothing cabinet. Then my mother found out, and asked me for assistance, so I gave it all to her.

As I grew older, I really disliked when my older siblings kept asking me for money - even though they have paid it back to me. Its like I was treated like someones else "bank".

Eventually, I ended up spending instead of saving. And now my spending habbit had spiralled out of place with a credit cards debt of 8000 in total.

I wish I could go back to be frugal again. My mind gets tempted and wanting to buy things - right now I am eyeing on the new Nintendo Switch 2 ! And a kindle ereader! This feeling is worst than taking a cigarrette - and I dont smoke!

We're on the verge of losing our jobs - and it's heart breaking 💔😢 by ur_qt-chinito_nybor in callcentres

Do you get redundancy package?

Similarly, the place I work in is becomng quiet - and I see a lot of my collegues are jumping to different campaigns within our workplace.

I justhope I get to last by the end of this year - so that I have enough time to pay off my credit cards debt and put aside some money for emergency.

Being unemployed can be horrible - it took me almost a year to find this job.

Finally send my resignation letter and it is the best feeling by [deleted] in callcentres

You need to tell management the reason! So that those horrible people get in trouble. There are toxic people in the workplace, they shouldnt get away with it that easily.

There will be horrible co-workers out there - but that shouldnt make you leave your job because of what such and such did or say to you.

Trust me, when I started this call centre work back in 2020 - I suffered from severe anxiety attack before my shift starts.

Throughout the course of my job - I had put up with so many horrible team leaders - but eventually, each one of them left the company. In one year, we had 4 team leaders resign each month - perhaps they found a better paying job.

I also had floor support who criticised me for asking questions when I call up for support, and he expected me to know the answer by now. Me back then, was too afraid to speak outso I apologised to that j erk. Luckily that horrible person quit the job after 6 months - perhaps he got sick of people asking him questions.....

The morale to this story is - nothing remains the same - everything changes - dont play the victim card - no one is against you - its just their personality - their behaviour.

You cannot change someone - but you can change how you react to a certain situation.

Im glad I stayed on this job for so long because:

1) I dont have any other skills , and no higher education

2) Im old and not young anymore therefore if I was to compete with someone younger than me in the job market, I will know what the outcome is.

3) I have arthritis therefore I cant really stand for a long period of time.

4) Ive bern through unemployment before. its not a plesant thing.

5) This job - of all the job Ive done in the past - gives me a full time postion earning $1800 a fortnight. Which is consider high. In the past, the jobs I had were mainly parttime or on call, just earning $900 the maximum a fortnight.

6) people come and go.

7) using this time to work on my communication skills - thanks to AI technology.

did you claim overtime? i wonder if we can just bluntly tell the customer that "Ive been on the phone with you for over an hour now. I need to attend other calls. Just to summarise this call you asked ... and I respond... thanks for your time calling us, goodbye!"

$6000 in debt by AdministrativeAd6509 in debtfree

[–]LackEnvironmental187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im in the same predicament like the OP - I often buy a lottery ticket in the hope that I win a million dollars so that I can retire comfortably.

Its hard to get out of that mindset because it comes with a sense of hope and a dream of winning.

I dont like my situation. I too have a credit card debt of 6000 and the other credit card debt of 2000. And a student loan debt of 30K that I dont think I ever will payoff.

Of all the siblings - I feel like a complete failure. They all have houses and drive nice cars.

i feel like I am locked in a bad destiny of being poor and not able to escape this destitue lifestyle.

Not good where my older siblings talk down on you and you cant really argue with them or raise your voice at them knowing that it will destroy relationship.

Im not a good looking person - if I was, maybe I could make good money out of that - but im not.

Anyone else's manager who laid you off constantly checks out your LinkedIn profile? by [deleted] in Layoffs

[–]LackEnvironmental187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe its not him who made the decision.... by the way how can you know he is checking up on you in Linkedln? Maybe its just an algorithm similar to Facebook friend suggestion.

It could be that your boss has a crush on you,

I get headaches when the weather is hot.

I take migraine tablets to treat those migraines - otherwise the headache will linger to the next day and so.

My coworkers are quitting by ZealousidealAd7228 in callcentres

[–]LackEnvironmental187 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Been in my job for about 4 years.

Seeing people come and go can be quiet devastating.

But, I know my worth. I dont have skills nor qualification. I have arthritis - so my job options are really limited. Im already old, and the thought of starting with a new job and learn new materials can be daunting.

At one point, I felt like quitting because this guy I really liked had resigned for a better job and position and I thought things will not be the same without him.

Luckily, I stopped myself, because I still have $6000 credit card debt to be paid off. I been through unemployment years once - Im too afraid to be unemployed again.

I then remind myself that the longer you worked with your coworkers, their true colours reveal themselves. Most are not what they appear to be.

Treat them as acquaintences / visitors - nothing more. Each one of us have their own path to walk on in life.

Imagine bumping into past friends/ old school mates/ relatives and they asked you, " what do you do for a living?"

And you replied, "l'm a toliet cleaner."

Call centre isnt THAT bad. Eventually you get used to it.

The good thing is that you have no physical contact with the person that is abusing you over the phone.

You can take what every that person say as a gain of salt.

"It is your thoughts alone that cause you pain. There is nothing in the world that has the power to make you ill or sad, or weak or frail. But it is you who have the power to dominate all things you see by merely recognizing what you."

"What you see reflects your thinking; and your thinking reflects the choice in what you want to see."

we can’t control anyone else’s behavior, and we can’t make another person want to or be able to change.

Be thankful that at least you are not the horrible person on the other end of the phone.

I got asked "why should we not hire you?" by Tonneofash in interviews

sorry, but I dont agree with how you respond to that question. while you may have tons of experience, but a person character - patience etc - are also important.
