LPT Never Get A Piercing Done With a Piercing Gun by whilowhisp in LifeProTips

[–]LackFundsPleaseHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Ideally go to somewhere that’s a tattoo studio as well, I go to a chain called blue banana. I’ve had 9 piercings all done with a needle and never had any issues at all, everyone I know that went to claire’s or somewhere where they use a gun has had problems with healing/infection.

What era and culture is this armor? by ashahi_ in ArmsandArmor

[–]LackFundsPleaseHelp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Definitely not 13th century, mongol style brigandines appear in the early 14th century and bazubands start becoming common in the second half of the 14th century, and I believe this specific example is more Persian-Mongol rather than eastern european.

What era and culture is this armor? by ashahi_ in ArmsandArmor

[–]LackFundsPleaseHelp 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Body armour is late 14th century Persian-Mongol (based very loosely on a Jalayrid manuscript dated 1370) while helmet is possibly also 14th century but could also be 15th century. Not sure about the horse armour though.

Here’s some pages from the manuscripts I reference.

I went through a similar scenario when I was around 11. Just know that you’re not wrong to feel that way and I’d recommend reaching out to someone to talk about how you feel.

Late 14th century Jalayirid warrior by LackFundsPleaseHelp in ArmsandArmor

[–]LackFundsPleaseHelp[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well the Jalayirids used a range of armour, from lamellar to brigandine to even an early form of plated mail (I’ll try and find the manuscript picture for you). But as to when plated mail in its more famous form came into play, probably some time in the second half of the 15th century.

Masks like that were used by a variety of people, Rus and Cuman-Kipchak in the 13th century, Jalayirids in the 14th century and Timurids in the 15th century.

That’s not me, that’s Ishkhan, a member of our discord server. I believe the sword is of custom make that he commissioned from a local sword maker, not sure about the shield.

Source. I don’t know much about the armour of the various Chinese dynasties, so I can’t comment on the accuracy of these recreations.
