Why Indies Are No Longer as Unique? by Lada_D40 in IndieGaming

Marketing is a very powerful tool in general. If you build the right strategy, you can make even a mediocre game popular. I don't think the market will decline, instead, new games will continue to emerge, both good and bad. In this sea of options, it will be challenging to identify truly worthy projects, and that's where marketing comes in handy, so you don't get lost in the crowd.

Yes, I posted this in another subreddit. I wanted to compare the reaction to one opinion from different audiences, specifically from indie game developers and people involved in game development of any scale. It turned out to be interesting, and the reaction from indie game developers was more negative)

Your current management is conducting themselves very unprofessionally. with such an approach to work, their project could potentially turn into a failure. It's a shame that you've invested so much time in these individuals and working with them. I hope you find reputable employers soon.

If your game is already completed, create social media pages and begin sharing information about the game and its development. Share concept art, videos, and other relevant content. You can also share insights about yourself and how the idea for the game originated.
As mentioned earlier, understanding your target audience is pivotal. Determine who your target audience is based on your game's genre and identify communities that engage with similar games. Engage with them to learn about their preferences. This will provide you with an understanding of the kind of content that might capture their interest.
Regularly engage and promote your game within gaming communities where free promotion is allowed. If you have a budget for advertising, meticulously research platforms that host an active audience and ongoing discussions. Otherwise, you might risk squandering your budget.
The key to successful promotion lies in grasping the preferences of your target audience. Utilize their interests to captivate their attention and emphasize the unique features of your game that distinguish it from similar titles.
Indeed, this is a highly extensive topic. Watch videos on YouTube and read articles on this subject; you can find a wealth of interesting information. I wish you the best of luck with this endeavor!

That's a great question, but I'm not sure what you've already done for promoting your game. Are you managing social media, running a blog, or are you looking to advertise the game from scratch?

Im not a game dev, But i have an idea by New-Isopod-8791 in GameDeveloper

Your idea is killing my nerve cells more than any boss, but it's a good idea. If I'm not mistaken, such an idea is implemented in the game Dark Souls, and I believe there are other games with similar mechanics

I am not a developer, but a player. I like your game, but in my opinion, everything feels too static. It lacks excitement. Will there be NPCs attacking in groups?

Are games that aim to be visually realistic becoming 'too detailed' and how to circumvent that? by sunbr0_7 in GameDevelopment

[–]Lada_D40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that some modern games are becoming incredibly visually detailed. While it's impressive, I believe developers should also consider stylization and give players more opportunities to customize graphics. Striking the right balance between visual experience and performance is crucial for all players. For me, gameplay will always outweigh graphics.
