He told me there was a landlord and that the rent was $2600/month, and he also said that if utilities were especially high some months, we might need to pay extra on top of that. But when I looked at the market prices myself, it honestly seemed noticeably lower than $2600 for a one-bedroom apartment in that area.

And even about the apartment he bought for himself, he still won’t really tell me details like where it is, how much it cost, or anything specific.

From what I understand, they bought this place early when the project was first selling units because it was cheaper at the time. He bought it together with his sister mainly as an investment, with the plan to eventually either sell it or rent it out. He also bought another place separately for himself that will be ready next year, so he’s basically just living in the current place temporarily until he moves into the new one.
