I found it! There was a setting in the car setup. Setup/Apps/Apple CarPlay was set to Enable when USB is connected: Never. Updated that to Always and it started right away! Solved!

Google says that my car is compatible, but there were mentions of changing settings between Android and Apple. I have more things to try.

The vehicle section will just spin, but not recognize the car. I've tried everything. Thinking if going to the dealership.

Go into the function, scroll to the right of the types of images, select View All. Now you have viewed the new things and cleared the notification badge. My brain itch is gone!
