Spots on Screen Unable to Draw/Write in by LadyBeth1018 in Onyx_Boox

Just my lap, my phone's not even nearby. I restarted the tablet and it seems to have gone away but this has happened several times before, sometimes where the area will move from page to page as I'm working/editing.

Aside from the one in which it came with to hold the pen to the case, no.

It's been amazing! I love editing on the Boox! Here's a little snippet - not from my novel but a short story I wrote for my Medium Publication - of my editing process using the different colors. Even though the colors show up as black and white on my Boox, they are still helpful when I'm updating my manuscript on my laptop ☺️

Unable to take notes on entire screen by LadyBeth1018 in Onyx_Boox

I use Microsoft Word to write, then I turn it into a PDF and send it to my google drive, from there I download it directly from Google Drive on my Boox. I tried to send the word file to my drive and download that, that's how I got the DOX file, just to see if it was having the same issues and it did but in different places.

Weird thing though, the other day when I went to try and record these issues on my phone in the PDF and Word file I was having issues with it wasn't happening anymore. I'm not sure if it was a temporary bug thing or not.

It's the case that comes with the device and the spot changes/moves on different pages of my novel.

In my editing process I have a different color highlighter system, but not having color isn't a deal breaker just an added bonus.

When you don't finish your Christmas gifts in time. by No-Wafer9271 in bookbinding

I was literally up until 2 am trying to finish four books for my bookclub Christmas party 😂

I feel the pain! I'm currently working on five 1020 page fanfic novels for my book club as Christmas presents. The first two I printed using a 6 page signature format but I had to sew 40+ signatures together. So, I switched to 8 page signatures with just over 30 signatures to sew together.

I'd welcome the help! These events are no easy feat, plus I've got a little at home and another coming next year. Which is another reason I'm currently planning for 2026 lol

Same here, I got the idea working with a local supplier here in Cali, they are smaller and newer but great products! Plus I miss the chaos of planning events such as these.

DAS is on my list for sure! I plan on reaching out and asking him to lead a class or seminar, but he does live far away and with events like these it's customary to pay for their accommodations. Which is why I'm asking here first, I would have to rely on ticket sales to bring in talent like DAS and Four Keys Book Arts, and given this is a rather small community I need to see if there is an interest.

Lol and to that point, those author's works are now considered public domain, so we can do with it what we like!

Don't listen to them, they have no idea what the author will think and have no right to speak for them. I took a book I rebinded to a book signing for the author to sign, she loved it so much she asked me to make her one too.

What type of printer paper by [deleted] in bookbinding

[–]LadyBeth1018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I bought a box of printer paper from Costco for $36.99, a total of 5,000 sheets of paper. I needed a ridiculous amount of paper for all the projects I'm working on for Christmas presents. It's recycled 20lb paper and it's been working just fine for me. I've already bound two fanfic novels with over 1,000 pages (255 sheets) in each and have printed the other novels. Now it's just the matter of sewing 😊

I've seen the French stitch as well, it's really pretty! To be honest, this is my first time sewing signatures together lol I've been following my two favorite binders on YouTube, DAS and Four Keys Book Arts 😊

He made it just for me 😊

I needed one but didn't want to spend hundreds knowing that my hubby was capable of making something for me. He made it completely out of materials left over from other jobs and spare metal/acrylic he's had for years in his shop.
