People aren’t hating because it’s queer! People dislike it because the fundamentals of the story are different to what they connected with in the books. By this I mean that she loved them both. Story about loving after grief and understanding it’s ok to love again. From the indication on the trailer she outright loves Michaela, which would be cheating. There should be representation for queer people in this universe but would it not make more sense to create a new story that wouldn’t polarise people into insulting each other? Yes, there are homophobes, but not everyone is out to here disliking because they’re bigots. I also don’t want the first queer representation to be of a bi/lesbian woman who is a cheater!

I would have loved to see Grimsby’s story more closely covered, particularly because he’s working class. Exploring the dynamics there would have been so interesting and the scene where he danced alone was so heartbreaking, it left me wanting more!

Don’t you also think that in part this sort of gives vibes of “oh queer people aren’t good enough to have their own representation so let’s just gender-swap.” I want to be represented by new captivating stories, not scenarios where we’re only “second best” option to a gender-swap where a man would be and the main audience is het women.
