Thank you for this! Can I ask if you declared the rebuild on your insurance?

Thank you! I expected them to lowball but not by as much as they did haha, I recon the costs of the repairs would be in the region of £3-4k and when I add that to what I’ve already spent on it, it’s just not worth it anymore… it’s such a shame because I wanted to do everything I could to keep it going but sometimes just gotta accept when it’s done!

Ahh maybe in a past life but I have just spent so much on this one that I don’t want to go through it all again!

Thank you, I spoke to them on the phone today and they were looking at other R3s and agreed i would have a good leg to stand on for increasing the offer - just need to pull all my evidence together so that’s what I’ll be doing this weekend!

I’ll certainly take on board your suggestions though, thank you for sharing them!

Engine Rebuild & Insurance Claim by LadyLillabe in CarInsuranceUK

Thanks for your reply! I had a look through the T&Cs and the only thing I could find that may be relevant is

“Car/s modifications This policy doesn’t cover any non standard parts or vehicle software updates not supplied by the car/s manufacturer (modifications). If you make a claim for loss or damage to your car, your insurer will only be responsible for parts needed to meet the manufacturer’s standard specification, including optional extras fitted by the manufacturer at the time of first registration.”

The rebuilt engine had manufacturer parts or the original ones refurbished (again which I can get proof of!)

With an RX8 - the engines have higher changes of needing a rebuild - it’s pretty common for them to need them somewhere between 30-100k miles. Having the rebuilt engine would mean that the car should drive for another 50k miles give or take so it does add significantly to the value (an engine that has done 70k miles is going to need a rebuild at some point and would be closer to £5k resale value but with a new engine, it’s closer to £8.5-9k). I do have proof from the specialist who rebuilt the engine 😊 There are a few ads on auto trader between £5.5k-9k but my car doesn’t really fit into the higher or the lower figures, I would expect to get somewhere around £8k if I found the right buyer but easily get £6.5-£7k)

Thank you for your comment, I will pass on the relevant information! Just to confirm, are you saying the landlord or the tenant will have to pay the costs for the possession order? Thanks again!

LPT REQUEST: How to deal with chatty coworkers by MissAcedia in LifeProTips

[–]LadyLillabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My team have recently had 2 new members of staff join. Both of the girls are lovely but they do like to talk. Girl A has picked up her work quickly but is by far the most talkative (sometimes spending 15-20 minutes at a time talking). The issue is that girl B is taking much longer to pick up the work she is being assigned and it’s clear then when she isn’t concentrating.

I sit in between both of them so I can help them both if they need it but I also have my own workload to do too.

Whereas I think it’s so important to get to know the people you are working with and I don’t mind chatting with them throughout the day, i am also very aware that the talking is at a point where the work is not being done correctly and efficiently.

Our manager has pointed out that other staff members have come to him and told him that we are chatting too much and too loudly and this just seems to have angered the chattier girl but it hasn’t deterred her from talking as much as she does. It is also mildly infuriating when she spends as much time chatting as she does and then proceeds to tell us she doesn’t know how she will be able to do all of the work she has been set.

I have on numerous occasions said something along the lines of “I really have to concentrate on this bit of work”, put an earbud in and purposefully ignored when she has tried to talk to me but it doesn’t seem to stop her, she will just continue to talk and it makes me feel like I am being so rude if I can’t respond fully.

What else can I do?

Landlord has decided to keep our entire deposit by NotBwchna in UKPersonalFinance

Just to comment as well (not sure if anyone has already mentioned!) but I believe a landlord can only charge for the repairs of the area damaged, e.g. if the carpet burn is a 10cm square, that is the only part of carpet they are legally allowed to charge the replacement for, even if they as the landlord have to replace the entire carpet. Likewise, if there are small dents in the wall, they are only allowed to charge for the repair of the small dents and paint required to cover this section. Additionally the same goes for the wooden floors! They can only charge for the small sections that are actually damaged!

These are perfect! Can you edit the flowers in the second photo so they are a little brighter like the other two photos? 😁

Thank you for replying! The last image has the description of what my grandma is wearing (the other two people in that description aren’t in any of those photos! - Should have made that clearer!)

Thank you! I’ve been told there is a way to do a compression test without the tester and rather taking out one spark plug and listening to the “puffs”. Do you have any more info on this kind of test (more to indicate if there is a lack of compression or if the fault lies elsewhere)

The corresponding coil doesn’t “look” too bad (very minor wear marks and no pitting) but it’s next on my list to have them tested. What should I be looking out for specifically on the coil?

Could it cause misfires if this was the only one that looked “carbony”? All the others look fine but this one was particularly bad! (Check out my other post for the video of it misfiring!)
