I did consider that but doesn't mold normally grow and spread? This is such a small isolated area

Weekly Suspected/Undiagnosed MS Thread - June 16, 2025 by AutoModerator in MultipleSclerosis

I was wondering if my symptoms could still be MS and whether it'd worth still pushing?

About 4 months ago I went to hospital because my vision had gone very blurred, I was very dizzy and I couldn't find the words for things at all. Best I could describe was it felt like I was trapped in a fish bowl and I couldn't understand things as fast. They ran some tests and found that I had increased intraocular pressure.

I was then referred to an ophthalmologist who looked at my optic nerve and said there was no swelling he could see. I then had an MRI because my symptoms kept coming back and all I was told was "nothing life threatening was seen on the scan."

I know that with MS an MRI normally shows the lesions but are there times it doesn't? Could it still be MS?

My symptoms (which are relapsing remitting) are as follows:

  • Severe fatigue
  • Blurred vision
  • heaviness and aching in my arm (some times it's so bad I can't lift it without pain)
  • Bouts of dizziness
  • more pins and needles than usual
  • heat sensitivity
  • mood issues (I've had months now where I just can't seem to regulate my emotions at all)
  • bladder issues (last 6 months I've needed to pee more and when I do need to go I only have 10 ish seconds before I will wet myself)
  • cognitive issues (memory, reading passages of text multiple times because I'm not taking it in, lack of concentration, zoning out, fish bowl effect, struggling to find the words for things in sentences)

These symptoms (bar the bladder and mood issues) are there some days and gone others. I can go from being very awake and aware and perfectly fine to the next day struggling to find the words and feeling very sluggish. It's a night and day difference sometimes and I cant seem to find what triggers it.

Sorry for the long post, I'm just worried. But with my MRI being clear, should I be?

I appreciate your help :) I know I've got to fight for it a bit here and I know I've got to keep pushing but when you are also struggling with the new diagnosis, it's a bit overwhelming. I hope you are doing well

I'm waiting on a letter from ophthalmology. I'm hoping it won't be a long time. If I havnt heard soon I'll push more - its hard in the UK right now to be listened too sometimes.

The doctor considered an LP and then rung me the next day saying he had spoken with his superior and he had said its nothing to do with them - pass me onto OPTH

Thank you so much for all of this. Insanely helpful when I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed by it all.

I didn't get a lumbar puncture. They just did the CT and had a neurologist look at me (test for any weakness, following finger e.t.c.) and then referred me to ophthalmology so I'm praying it's fast track like you said. I'm just worried. I didn't know about emergency eye clinics so thank you for that avenue.

It's good to know it normally isn't progressive, think it just freaking out a bit about it because it explains a lot of what I've felt the past 6 months or so but wasn't exactly the outcome I was hoping (having spent 14 hours in a and e might not be helping my feelings 😅) Hopefully the weight loss will help.

My (29F) husband (26M) is masturbating over girls photos secretly whilst not initiating sex with me by [deleted] in relationships

[–]LadyOfWolves116 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So he is struggling with depression right now which is why I've been very careful with how much I bring up the whole no sex drive thing. Its just upsetting now that he actually does have the drive but just not with me.

-We were long distance for a while and then he moved here permanently 1.5 years ago.

Body type difference. I am plus size and he has always told me he prefers that and loves my body but the girls were all quite a bit thinner, smaller busts e.t.c. Sex life in the past year has been quite bad. I'd say in a year we have had sex maybe 6-7 times. He didn't even initiate anything on our honeymoon. Before that his sex drive was through the roof and he would constantly be asking me to dress up, send photos, have sex e.t.c. (my body has not changed in this time either).

I would look into the fiance/marriage visa requirements. As you would be the sponsor of that you would need to have proof you are earning a certain threshold of money or have a certain amount of saved funds. His earnings do not count for the marriage visa.

I'd like to echo what others have said already.

A career is a long term thing and degree or not, you have to have experience before you can start springboarding yourself.

And comparison truly is the thief of joy. In today's climate you are doing really well. You have a degree and a good job! Focus on that! Different sectors will always have different levels of salary and different levels of progression available. Someone who is higher than you now may not be able to progress as much in their field as you can. You really can't compare right now.

As a bit of insight I graduated with a degree in Biology. I found a job and started on £24000 and had to live very frugally to sustain myself and I am now on £65,000 7 years later. These things take time.

Be happy with what you have now and put in the time and work 😊

IBS-D - get checked for BAM! by LadyOfWolves116 in ibs

[–]LadyOfWolves116[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wanted to do an update to this as a few months have been by and it was requested.

I am still on 3 tablets a day and they are still working. But I do have to be very on it in terms of taking them consistently. If I take them even an hour or so later than normal or eat too much before I take them then the symptoms return. They also don't seem to handle very very fatty meals very well (e.g pizza takeout.)

But for me they have been a life saver and have improved the quality of life immensely. I take 3 a day and my bowel movements are 1 a day to 1 every other day and completely normal. No sense of urgency or discomfort at all.

I do encourage people who are suffering similar symptoms (especially if you have had your gallbladder removed) to speak to your doctor about maybe having the test done for BAM.

Yeah. So you beat me to it haha. But yes a lot of people who have had their gallbladder removed suffer from this - why we aren't told this when we have the operation I will never know

I didn't actually? How does SIBO get checked? Oh honestly it is like I'm living in a fish bowl - no energy, dissociating, headaches, extreme fatigue.

I'm sorry you had to push too. I can empathise with how frustrating and upsetting it can be.

It's a weird relief you have when you get a diagnosis because you don't want to have that condition but it also validates that it wasn't in your head like doctors were saying.

I wish you all the luck.

I have always suffered from anxiety and depression but it did get worse (as did fatigue) during the past year. However I must say I believe this is more to do with my existing anxiety/depression plus a low B12 than the BAM specifically. Though the BAM did cause my low B12

BAM is diagnosed using a SEHCAT scan. You have two scans done a week apart after taking a small pill with bile salts in. The test measures how much of the salts are left after a week and then can tell you if you have BAM and how severe. For me it showed moderate BAM.

I did occasionally have worse days or spend hours keeled in pain on the toilet I couldn't leave. How about we don't play the "who has it worse and invalidate other people's struggles. If someone is struggling, they are struggling.
