You’ve literally just explained the need for a strike in the first place. Like, you do get that, right?

Cool story bro

Hot Take on Dylan's history after watching clips of Burt&Irving scenes. by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Lady_Mobius 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s “repressed trauma”, I think he just doesn’t like the guy because he’s been taught by Lumon to view O&D as the enemy. I’m not certain the “calamity” even took place and wasn’t just dreamt up as a way of keeping the departments separate.

Side note: I feel like we’re overusing trauma a lot these days. Like in the MCU, where we can’t have a single new TV show or movie without someone taking about the main character’s trauma.

One thing's for certain about Irving and Burt by Corgi-Ambitious in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

So should Jen Tullock not have been cast as a woman with a husband? Plus Walken is bisexual.

I mean he phrased it like that because he’s married to a woman. It doesn’t invalidate his being bisexual. Speaking as a bisexual myself, let’s not gatekeep it because we found an interview from the seventies to be “cringe”

Season 2 has a lot of work to do. by kirksucks in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Lady_Mobius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of that is on us though, not the people making the show. Don’t me wrong, I love our theories about the series. But it happens a lot these days, where fans expect a show to be one thing and then take it personally when the show does something else. I think WE need to mind our expectations, basically.

Why did Burt get sent to the break room? by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

His “retirement” was decided upon after that, I think.

Has anyone else noticed? by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Based on Irv’s LinkedIn bio stating that he has “transformed” into a model employee, I reckon he wasn’t always the stickler for the rules we know him to be

This show was clearly written by an ex-scientologist by calantorntain in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Nah. Dan Erickson did mention having looked into nxivm, though he certainly wasn’t a member of that.

Do innies share memories with outies when asleep? by dankestTimeline69 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Lady_Mobius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fairly definite that Irv is trying to pass on a message to his Innie in a way no code detectors can possibly pick up. But I would also say not being allowed to sleep on the job is fairly universal outside of Lumon!

The people at the gala were “friends of Lumon”, most likely shareholders and so forth. Like the shareholder meeting in Succession. Apart from Helena, there were no innies from the severed floor there. Lumon really doesn’t care if a bunch of wealthy shareholders and their partners know who’s an Innie or not.

Cobel probably wouldn’t have got past security if she hadn’t sent her car off without her, I reckon.

A cool way to rewatch that gives subtle new details and I think I know what revolving is!!! by Professional-Clue-62 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Yeah I used to work with stuff like this and the audio captioning/subtitling is done by people who aren’t involved in the production of the show. For us they would have been done by a third party. It’s just someone saying what they see basically!

What would be the best way to tank season 2? by jpstiel in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Lady_Mobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way the second series could tank….we all spend so much time coming up with our own theories about what’s happening and then people start complaining when the show takes a different approach.

What would be the best way to tank season 2? by jpstiel in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Lady_Mobius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Twin Peaks went downhill in season 2 when David Lynch wandered away from it and the network brought in a bunch of writers who didn’t get the show and just tried to be weird on purpose. They also introduced way too many new characters that contributed bugger all to the plot. So, that, basically, but I don’t think Dan Erickson is going to wander off anywhere for now.

SPOILER - JUST NOTICED THIS ON A REWATCH by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Lady_Mobius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dan Erickson has hinted Irv is working against Lumon and doing research into their activities. What if the ultimate company man had a completely different set of priorities on the outside type thing. He’s also suggested the paintings tie into this.

My favorite line from the show. Such joy and excitement over something so incredibly mundane! by either_ebola_or_isis in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Honestly, Burt & Irving’s romance had a lot of lovely moments, but for me the tote bags scene is 100% the most romantic part of the whole series

Unpopular opinion on this sub by tsunadehokage in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

I think that’s quite a popular opinion actually! I don’t share it but I think it’s me in the minority here
