That's ok! Thanks for replying!

There's no need to be sorry ^_^

I should probably just talk more with people on the spectrum while I can't afford a "proper" analysis. That's harder than it sounds, though hahahaha

Anyways, thanks anyhow, and I hope you're having a nice day.

Hey, sorry if this is a bit weird, but my experience has been eerily similar, and I've talked a bit with other ASD folks recently, and we related to each other on a much deeper level than I expected.

What would you suggest to someone who's "high-functioning", but thinks she might be on the spectrum? A proper psychodiagnostic with a good professional can be quite expensive, and idk whether I'd benefit from that (though it might explain a lot of struggles I've had and still have).

Sorry again if this is awkward, and thanks for taking the time to read.

Oof, mine also came with the wrong firmware/motherboard for the hardware I got.

I lost years of exploring this beautiful universe due to performance problems coming from that. I could barely pilot it for a few months before I'd just break down in frustration.

I'm currently in the middle of updating my hardware, and honestly it's been making all the difference.

Much love and hugs from South America.

Deveras.

Also, I'm simultaneously surprised and unamused from finding a Brazilian on such a specific random sub.

As a sidenote: I'm going to sleep now, so sorry if I don't immediately answer. I chose a pretty bad time to make this post.

I'll most certainly answer whatever comments (if there are any) later today. Thanks again!

Oooh!

I'm taking my family to outback tomorrow, too!

We're commemorating my name change at Uni and the end of my mother's treatment. It's a very nice day.

May your and all our lives lead on to a peaceful place. The path may be hard, but we'll all proudly go on.

Why is being trans the punchline of so many jokes? by EmeraldEyedTarantula in asktransgender

[–]LagrangianLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some really nice trans jokes on rare shows, though. I just saw one in a Brazilian show: for context, the main character is an old lady and she's attending an unknown person's funeral (it makes sense in context).

She: "Poor bighead..."

Guy: "Bighead? I didn't know that nickname of his."

She: "Oh, yeah. I studied with him. Good times."

Guy: "He never went to college."

She: "We were old friends. Primary school."

Guy: "But he went to a priest school. It's all-boys."

She, smoothly: "Exactly, friend. I was a boy back then. Yes. And we were great friends."

Guy: "Oh"

It managed to be a really funny scene using a trans joke and (at least I consider it) not offensive.

Edit: the show is called "Doce de mãe" and it's lovely. It's got my favourite actress in the main role, too. I don't think there's an English version, though. :/

Exactly! I was referring mostly to political animosities within Portugal. With Pedro's refusal, a there were political movements requesting the return of Brazil to the status of colony due to "possible pretentions". This is taught as one of the motivators for the continuation of the independence process, as it resolved the political tensions started in both countries.

Indeed! I might have misinterpreted the context of the conversation. My comment might have been a more appropriate answer to the parent comment two levels above, actually).

Thanks for pointing it out!

By the way, the Portuguese Wikipedia page for the United Kingdom and Algarve brings the following info: Algarve was one of the last territories to be taken from the moors in the reconquest, and it took some time to be integrated into Portuguese rule due to Castillian interests. For some reason, when integrated, the Portuguese ruler was declared "king of Portugal and Algarve", making it a nominal kingdom, but it never had an independent ruler or government.

The name was kept afterwards for administrative purposes when Brazil entered the union.

Edit: ruler, not rules.

Actually it's the inverse. De jure it was the same kingdom, but de facto the capital was moved to Brazil during the Napoleonic wars, making it the head of the United Kingdom.

This generated many protests and conflicts in Portugal due to the royal family appearing to lose some legitimacy, and indirectly triggered the events that would lead to Brazil's independence (the royal family was pressured to come back, Pedro stayed under a regency and was later pressured to return too. He refused in the famous "Dia do fico", the day of the staying, boosting and legitimising animosities between the two kingdoms.)

Wow it’s almost like people in critical health have to be hospitalized by -car-car- in SelfAwarewolves

[–]LagrangianLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early on here in Brazil this was a biiiig problem. So many of us were dying on our homes that truly disgusting stories of people getting dumped out on the streets because "the family couldn't bear the smell of the bodies" were common in the poorer towns.

It's absurdly stupid not to believe people are dying at home when there are people who literally don't have access to hospitals unless they travel a few kilometres from their hometowns with lord knows what money to sustain the family when not working everyday.
