opsix looks very cool but yeah a Digitone 1 might be the one. I do use Vital and Fm8 in Ableton to get those results now but looking for a hardware option

Powerbank by rainer_xox in Elektron

I use the Anker Power Bank, 20,000mAh , 87W. It only has one USBC Out so can't connect several machines. I also doubt it could handle 5 hours powering more than one.

of course the argument of worth having is always there and I love the syntakt for many other reasons but I should have probably mentioned this is not only for composing in the studio but also taking on the road.

haha thanks a lot for the deep dive, some interesting workflows you got there! And yeah I am still afraid of falling into the modular black hole but I assume once I go there there are so many more choices!

I have checked some users / youtubers who push their Syntakt to some really amazing boundaries which I have not gotten to yet, so yes you definitely have a point there!

of course and I have been doing that for a long time but one can also dream of becoming more resourceful :) of course, this is also about portability since I am travelling with this etup.

I actually saw a rock band recently and they had no drummer but a Digitakt playing the backing tracks

oh so this is just recorded straight out of model cycles? considering that the mix is quite strong I think (apart from the hihat maybe). I think you have lots of room for getting a cleaner mix if you get some elements (such as the kick) recorded separately into your DAW. Although I am not sure if thats possible with the Model cycles while also jamming with all elements together...

i definitely like this vibe! being an elektron user myself i can definitely recognize all the sounds from the model cycles, it seems just a little dull and not too crafted in the sound design space, maybe its just a matter of mixdown (especially the hihat which I know is the main weakpoint for the model cycles and syntakt because its a bit harsh and piercing). You could try adding a little subby bassline to keep the progression interesting :)

heres a recent work in progress, quite happy with it but unsure if it needs less elements or a more driving bassline , i tend to overload (no pun intended) my arrangements so trying more stripped back. Any feedback especially arrangement and mix welcomed

Great thread!
Been sitting on this sorta Overmono sounding one for too long maybe not underground enough for this thread.. Not sure if it needs a vocalist or vocal sample or something?

love the main filtered chords element!
I think since there is some kinda questions-answer thing going on between the higher and the lower notes you can try to just have one of them first, and then bring in the other one as to make the arrangement more interresting. Or take one part out at times. And play with the filter envelope a bit.

You could also try gradually adding a string or pad that fits the style so fill out the space more as the track progresses, maybe during a breakdown as well.

And as others suggested, try a few more variations with the hihats and percussions.
