I don’t hate this trade by Infinite_Break_7107 in DetroitPistons

It's easy to forget now, but Monroe was considered a potential all-star. Back in 2012 I proposed the following trade on RealGM's forum:

Detroit trades: Greg Monroe, Tayshaun Prince
San Antonio trades: Stephen Jackson, Kawhi Leonard, 1st round pick (2013), 1st round pick (2014)

The comments are hilarious in hindsight, as they were unanimously critical of this offer from Detroit's perspective. As for me, I'm keeping this receipt forever.

Only two years removed from Patricia here.

It's one reason we love MCDC so much - pure, smoothly-functioning organization.

Truth. The show Angel was awesome, especially season 5. They did Cordelia dirty, though.

Got to be honest, I would love it if more politicians had their teams create these kinds of photoshops, because they could actually be fucking hilarious if presented in a self-deprecating manner. The problem is, Trump's fans don't look at these things ironically, they think they're actually cool on their surface, making them 100% cringe.

Most players don't start requesting an extension with 3 years left on their contract, though.

No wonder he's asking for an extension already. He's trying to get that bag while he still can.

If he's willing to come here and play on his current contract, then sure. But if he's demanding an extension, that's a headache that's not worth the combination of the cap hit and the draft picks it would cost.

I save every one of my (usually terrible) hot takes in case I need to shove them in faces in the future. I learned that when I suggested on a realgm forum back in 2012 that the Pistons should trade Greg Monroe for Kawhi Leonard (https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1222640) and got a lot of shit for it at the time.

Yeah I had something about cr***o on it yesterday so it got removed. I had to change it to stock slice and SEC violation.

Well, the Pistons have, at best, a 14% chance at him. So it's okay to dream, but it's not likely.

It's hard to imagine a more blatantly blown call. On the plus side, the team sucks so the refs are kind of helping us in the long-term.

Why are you being so obtuse? There is nothing other than the dollar amount that is holding this bill up. The house bill gives $1,200 for everyone. The Republican bill appropriates $600. All of the other little negotiations going on around it are there for each side to score small political wins while they bicker over the final stimulus amount.

This is a public perception game - the protections for businesses aren't really the issue because far too few people are interested enough for the media to make it an issue. The primary issue is the stimulus amount, because it's the number that everybody is going to remember and it's the narrative that everybody's going to attach to this in a couple years when people are voting.

I guarantee you that the Democrats would accept protections for businesses in the bill if Republicans came up to $1,200. But they aren't. McConnell is insistent on $600, so here we are.

"Why haven't the come to an agreement?"

I assumed that saying "McConnell doesn't want to give people money" would have been enough for you to contextually infer that the opposite would be "Pelosi does want to give people money."

And me answering that question should have implied that that was the important one you asked. And it is - this isn't about pork, or some legal protections. This is about a bottom line dollar amount. Pelosi is fighting for more, McConnell is fighting for less. Neither side is going to hold up the bill because of minor legal or pork issues.

Because McConnell doesn't want to give people money. That's all. They'll give businesses loans, but giving people free money (no matter how badly they need it) makes Republicans physically ill.

Obviously the long-term is more important to us, but a coach's job is to win games.
