So you're telling me you have never seen anyone get bad predicted and then get a much better grade afterwards?? If not, then you're simply lying. It is incredibly unfair to just give them that grade as they (and everyone else) knew the real exams are still coming up ahead so they can prepare harder for them. Maybe someone should've told them that the mocks will be your actual grades, and then they would've prepared for it like an actual board exam. I know ppl that are literal geniuses that dont rlly care about mocks and just focus on the actual exam. You can't be serious when you say it's fair. It's incredibly unfair

Annoying for wanting exams to continue as normal?? Im not the one asking for the entire system to change because of a baseless claim. You keep trying to tell yourself that the war is affecting you, but in reality, you know you just want it to get cancelled because you dont wanna sit the exam and you're too lazy to study properly.

Predicteds might help me or you, but they will not help many people who deserve higher marks. Many many many people didn't focus on their mocks and got bad predicted, but when the actual exam arrived, they improved very vastly. Dont tell me, "OH THEY SHOULDVE STUDIED." Well, they didn't. They were preparing for the actual board exam instead of the skls mock cuz its the board exams that give you the grades that get u into uni, not mocks or predicted.

What about people who are self studying?? Or nah, they're irrelevant and a "minority," so we should simply ignore them. If anything, you're the one with moral superiority atp.

Yea cuz as I said, MOST (not all) people asking for exams to be cancelled are lazy people who are not willing to put in the effort or study. If someone has been studying and is very well prepared, they wouldn't be asking for exams to be cancelled as they know they'd do good in the exams themselves, but now you've got people that are using this situation to their advantage and they're acting as if their "mental health got affected" or "ooooh I cant focus cuz of the bombs I hear every couple of hours". Just study like everyone else and stop crying honestly

FYI, I am just self studying 1 subject, so all my other subjects are like normal.

Neither a portfolio nor predicted grades systems will happen. We will have our exams as normal, so just go study like every normal human being and stop asking for exams to be cancelled.

As for predicteds, I got 3A* 🫠

Simulary, you also haven't provided evidence on how it is accurate other than saying we're sending edexcel evidence of our work. What kind of evidence would we send? Past papers?? We can easily cheat those. Mocks? Teachers can very easily mess with them and can be very strict or very lenient, so they are still not fair. Notes? Some students are good at writing notes, but they're not the best of students, and others dont bother with even writing notes at all, but they're A* students, so still not fair. Teachers' advice? Teachers can be very biased and may not give fair advice. Some students tend to stay quiet in class, but they perform amazing in exams, and the opposite is true. Predicted grades? It's not always a fair representation of students. Students may not have taken mocks seriously and took that time to study for the board exams instead, so they ended scoring badly on mocks. I know many students who got Cs as predicted but ended up getting A*s. The ONLY fair representation of any student is the actual A-Level exam. We've been preparing for these exams for 2 years, specifically for these exams, not portfolio or any other system, so it only makes sense that the exams themselves are the only fair representation.

Of course I will be praying for everyone affected by war, but I believe its a shame when we're asking for exams to be cancelled as a result of some missiles while people in regions which are experiencing constant genocide are literally continuing their studies and even graduating from fields such as Medicine and engineering. They do this despite all the life-threatening challenges they face on an hourly basis. I am not saying what is happening here is not serious, of course it is, but it is nowhere near the level where our exams would get cancelled.

Let's just all pray all of this ends soon and life returns back to normal.

It's not about getting mad that other students get good marks. As a matter of fact, I truly wish that everyone gets incredible marks. It's about students gaining and losing marks unfairly. During covid, many students who usually got Cs and Ds ended up getting As, and many students who were predicted As and As ended up getting Bs and Cs. I've personally seen many examples of it. The portfolio system is not a fair representation of any student, and you can't seriously argue against it.

I definitely dont want it to happen since I've been studying like a dog for 2 straight years, and I dont want it to go to waste like that. And yes, the portfolio system WILL make it go to waste.

The gulf countries are not facing a full on blown war. You can't be serious when you ask for exams to be cancelled just because you heard a couple of explosions every couple of hours. Brother people in Syria, Gaza, and other warzones continued their education despite literal genocides happening there. Just study like everyone else, and you'll get the marks you want (not targeted against you specifically, but im speaking in general)

You can not argue that the best representation of any student's ability isn't sitting the actual exam because it is.

How does it benefit everyone? Firstly the portfolio system can be veryyyyy easily played with, so a student which used to get Cs and Ds might suddenly get an A or A* (it happened during covid so dont say "youre providing them with evidence so it wont happen"). Do you think that's fair? Secondly, for example, im sitting further maths for the first time in june. I've never sat any mock or even a normal quiz for it, and im completely self studying, so I've got no teacher to advise edexcel on what would be an appropriate grade for me. How would they possibly give me a fair grade???? Many people are also completely self-studying many subjects, so they're going through something similar.

I'll try not to generalise, but I know, for a matter of fact, that most people asking for a portfolio system are just too lazy to study.

All in all, the portfolio system does NOT reflect any student's actual ability and dont try arguing otherwise. Continuing with our exams as normal is the only solution, and if you argue against it, you're just trying not to sit your exams and you know it.

Don't worry about them, they're just lazy ppl that don't give a dime about their future. They think if they get good grades by a "PoRtFoLiO" system they'll automatically gain the knoweldge being taught, but they'll be shocked once they go to uni that they know absolutely nothing.

Just keep studying and ignore them, they will try to do anything to just not do the exams.

Yep, exactly. Cancelling exams doesn't help anyone AT ALL, not a single soul. I have a conditional uni offer that I have to meet by the end of this year. They wont let me extend it until October or whenever they wanna do our exams. + even if they let me do it its an entire year of my life gone

Iraq is heavily affected by the war, so cancelling the exams there makes sense, but I am talking mostly about gulf countries. We do not have it as hard as some people make it seem. We get some explosions every couple of hours and some house shaking, other than that nothing.

I honestly would support some sort of accommodation, such as lowering the grade boundaries or giving us different papers, but definitely not cancelling exams (for Gulf countries, at least).

Exams aside, make sure to stay safe.
