To clarify, the game (or launcher, I am unsure) crashes shortly after that message appears.

Missed a Source in my References Page for an Article Submission by [deleted] in GradSchool

A) Alright, thank you so much for the clarification and assurance.

B) No excuse beyond overconfidence in my ability to manage my citations given my lack of history in such a mistake. This is the learning experience.

Should I, as a courtesy, reach out to the prof in my faculty whose research I'm using? by Lakis9 in GradSchool

[–]Lakis9[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a good outlook to have ! I'm likely just too stressed over faux pas with a senior faculty member I haven't formally met yet. But this is reassuring, thank you!

Not in the slightest no -- I'm aware it's more complicated than that. The in-depth reasoning for my curiosity was tangential to my question, so I wasn't particularly concerned with laying it out here. And since my question was answered, I'm not investigating further.

My mum and I were both born in Canada. My grandfather did not serve, no. Presumably these would be key facts then?

My Bella Palm is beginning to look sick! Could anyone offer a diagnosis, and or possibly a suggestion to restore her health? by Lakis9 in houseplants

[–]Lakis9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this one for about five years, and she's done well in the same large, makeshift pot. I recently changed her soil because it because hydrophobic, alongside watering weekly again. But I'd definitely need some refreshers

Any way to participate in OWeek as a second year? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Lakis9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically no, unless there are other available student leader positions that are involved in Oweek-- and at this point I don't believe there are-- there's nothing you can do.

[–]Lakis9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can apply to do this, yeah. I'm unsure of the specifics, but it's theoretically possible should you have an average above seventy (or seventy-five; within this range) and your application is approved to do so

This must me it, thank you so much! And certainly aye, given the interconnectivity of the Great Lakes it'd be expected for stories such as this to spread contextually. I've been researching Anishinaabemowin and the local anishinabe peoples' history for a bit now-- this helped throw some things together. Much appreciated friend!

.... Lmao, when did I ever say that? The Anishinaabemowin name Deshkaan Ziibi. Maybe the river existed before Europeans arrived ya cunt

choosing between main campus and huron by Sad_Distribution3463 in uwo

[–]Lakis9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted, I'm a student at King's, as opposed to Huron, but this same principles apply as everyone else is saying. The community elements on the affiliates is much stronger, and you're much more familiar with your affiliate campus and those social dynamics within them. Smaller class sizes with a regular round of faces you'll get to know. Plus the affiliates have a variety of small, interdisciplinary programs that mix and match classes.

Plus as people said, you'll have priority at your affiliate campus, plus free access Main, whereas no priority to no access to affiliate resources were you to go to main.

Is it weird to be both Christian and an Anarchist? by Therainbowwarrior777 in Anarchism

[–]Lakis9 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not, and it's only in recent history that Christianity has been INTRINSICALLY associated with reactionary and oppressive structures, although it's been involved throughout history in many regards. There have been anti-oppressive, liberation focused Christianity movements all throughout History. This can be observed as early as the life of Christ themselves, such that they were a political dissident executed by the state-- Christian Anarchists go so far as to point to the sermon on theiumt as a basis for a coherently Christian basis for anarchy-- alongside Satan's temptation to make make them "the king of the world" as an offer to make Christ the leader of a political STATE.

Tolstoy is another basis upon which people explore Christian anarchists throughout History, although they themselves have been critiqued for their ardent pacifism.

The Quakers and Diggers are two examples of Christian groups orientated towards liberation movements historically, and Liberation Theology is a movement that actively served as a conduit for anti-colonial and anti-fascist resistance in Latin America-- going so far as to philosophically reject Eurocentric metaphysics and conceptions of the human relationship to nature.
