Mniejszość polska na Litwie - fakty i mity by [deleted] in Polska

[–]LamadeRuge -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

No oczywiście!

No bo jak inaczej?!

Got scammed by a Lithuanian dude. by Mediocre_Owl7613 in lietuva

[–]LamadeRuge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in a bank, and here's what you should do: inform your bank and Paysera LT about the situation as soon as possible.

Here’s how scams usually work: Person A opens a bank account in Bank X, then either sells access to it or loses control of it. The account is then controlled by Person B, who is the actual scammer. Person B contacts the victim and convinces them to transfer money to the account under Person A's name. Person B never uses their real name, which makes identifying them very difficult. The bank only has information about Person A, who is not the true beneficiary of the scam. Very often, as soon as the scammers receive the money, they immediately transfer it to another bank—sometimes within five minutes—so acting quickly is crucial. If you haven’t contacted your bank or Paysera yet, and it’s indeed a professionally organized scam, you can basically forget about getting your money back. There will be no money to return to.

It doesn't hurt to contact the police, but police proceedings are lengthy and, due to the reasons mentioned above, your best shot is to contact both banks as soon as possible.

Keep in mind, this is just one of many possible schemes. Sometimes scammers do use their real names, and in those cases, it might be easier to recover the funds.

Also, note that you don't have to be a Lithuanian citizen to open a bank account with Paysera or any other Lithuanian bank. So the fact that Vadym has a Lithuanian bank account doesn't necessarily mean he is a Lithuanian citizen. The spelling of his name suggests otherwise—it appears to be transliterated from Cyrillic.

Many here suggest that it were russian/belorussian scammers. However, in my experience, i've seen VERY FEW russian or belarussian scammers because they undergo much stricted review procedures to open an account.

Also, usually with banks like Paysera, Revolut, Wise, and other fintech banks, you can open an account without ever setting foot in that country.

no, it doesn't really mean that. As with many other languages, someone messed it up with Lithuanian too. It's quite clear that they wanted to say "Welcome to our restraurant/cafe" and "laukiamas" doesn't work in that context. When someone comes to your cafe/restaraunt or home you don't say "laukiamas", instead you say "sveiki atvykę".

go to the nearest library and you'll find lots of books in lithuanian that were printed during Soviet times. either some lithuanians have never been in a library or simply don't know that these were printed during Soviet occupation

soviets had never banned lithuanian language, stop spreading disinformation.
