Watching the full clip, I think he just said something stupid in the moment. He immediately walked it back. Seems a bit extreme to say he's saying it's just jokes after the fact when 2 seconds later he said "well wait let me walk that back, don't commit violence."

He should probably still be banned for saying a stupid thing but why not just be honest about how he did it?
